Transformation…

Today was another outdoor day… I had to take a break between 2 and 4 due to the heat and sun. So here is a recap of what I have done over the last two days outside…

One of my new flowers (see below)

First I had to clean out all of the flower beds, raking up all the leaves and things into piles, then digging out all the plants and such I no longer want in the flower beds, and adding those to the piles…

I mowed the grass and then raked up all the grass into piles to collect…

This was one of 8 piles and a smaller one at that…

I then picked up all the piles and put them in holes that needed filling in the ditch. I got to use the new trailer for our tractor and it dumps so it is very useful 🙂

Yahhh new dump trailer

Then I had to clean out the beds and make them ready for the new flowers I got…

Before…

After…

Before

After (I added a Wild Berry Coneflower)

I also planted a watermelon vine in the front bed that gets the right light to grow as I can not plant it in the garden… the chickens might eat the vines if they get out of control.

Here are some final shots of a few of the flowers I planted out front….

Gerber Daisy’s

The flower bed is now transformed… The only bad part of the weekend was today when I was trying to put the gas can back in the shed a big long 4-ft rat or black snake was blocking the door to the shed. My neighbor came over to make sure he didn’t go into the shed and only under it. If you know me, you know I HATE snakes… imagine that a country girl who still has this kind of fear of snakes, but I do. Needless to say hubby will be putting up the gas can and tractor tonight when he gets home from work…

I hope you all receive many blessings this week…

Ladybug, Ladybug, don’t fly away…

I spent from 11 AM till 7 PM outside.. I feel satisfied and happy. I did a lot of yard work raked up all the hay from cutting the grass, cleaned out the flower beds, dug up some plants I no longer want in the flower beds, and put together the new trailer for the garden tractor (with Dad) so I can collect all the piles of things I made today. I took pictures of all of this, but I am too tired to download them. I will and post more about my day tomorrow.

My new garden ornament

The chickens spent the day at the fence watching my every move and the dogs hung out on the front porch “protecting me” from those who came by.

I hope you all had a busy and productive day as I did. It was nice to end the week on a happy and productive note. On to the next week… Blessings 🙂

Free Weekend…

Happy weekend everyone 🙂 I hope you had a good week and have some great things planed this weekend. For us this is the first weekend we have not had plans so I will enjoy the garden, fixing things up around the house, walks with the dogs, and when hubby is home for work maybe a hike or trip to the battlefield. I loved the below flower as I had never seen a peony bush with flowers this dual color.

I will share a couple more photos before I head out to mow the grass.

A local farmers mailbox… I want hubby to make us one

I hope you all have a blessed weekend and all the good weather that is predicted for here.

Thankful Thursday… as promised.

It’s been a long struggling week for our family… there has been a lot of setbacks and stress. Sometimes it hard to see blessings when you are struggling, but I am trying to stay focused on what the Lord gives so here goes…

This week I am thankful for…

10. The ability to drive to work, have a computer, TV, etc. Many people don’t have this.

9. A beautiful sunset.

8. My garden which is growing and hopefully will give me goodies soon 🙂

7. The fresh chicken eggs that make me feel comfort.

6. My puppies who always act silly and make me smile.

5. My mom’s surgery went well and she is feeling better (thank you to those of you who provided input and support with this on my previous post about her pending surgery).

4.  Friends who support and stand up for me.

3. Family who love me.

2.  My hubby who is in all of this with me… by my side 🙂

1. My Lord who is only a prayer away.

Just a quick note…

I know I said yesterday today would be ten things Thursday… it will be … Check back tonight.

As for now I thought I would share the above photo I caught the other day on the way to work and a picture of my chicken girl to hold you over till I get home tonight 🙂 This little lady is trying to get into my expanded garden to eat all the yummies coming up… I think the fence spoiled her plan 🙂

And the sun came out…

Yesterday was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day… it is why I missed my 10 things Tuesday and will have to make up for it with ten things Thursday.

Today I am choosing to see the sunshine and white fluffy clouds…

I am also choosing to rest and try to de-stress. It’s so humid outside you are drenched as soon as you go out. The dogs keep trying to leave the fence to get to the cool ditch water, but even that is dried up so I put out their baby pool (Chase liked it, Baxter only would drink from it).

Still they choose to be inside with me sleeping on the cold wood floors. (Can’t say I blame them). We got my car back from the shop today 🙂 Yahoo no more rental. I want to try to remember to post Monday nights dinner I made… cauliflower soup. I took some to work to share with coworkers and it got great reviews. I made the soup Monday as it was still chilly and cold enough for soup… unlike today.

Driving on the back road earlier in the week, near where we saw the peacock, we saw some chickens running around. Chickens are so funny when they run, if you are in a bad mood and see a chicken run, you can’t help but feel better, at least a little bit.

When I went out to check on the chickens and eggs I saw our cherry tree has started to get some red cherries on them. These are sour cherries, but are still good. I will have to keep an eye on them to see when they get ready and try to beat the birds to them.

I am glad half the week is over and there is only two days till the weekend. On a positive note I am so happy to pass 200 followers so thank you to each and every one of you who visits me daily and has chosen to follow my little part of the world. I am so grateful you are helping to make my blog a success. Blessings today to you and yours.

Big Bird…

It’s still cloudy and wet today. The rain appears to have stopped for now. On the way home the other day we saw this peacock sitting on a house on one of the back roads we take. Since I work later today I thought I would share this photo before I left.. I hope you have a great day 🙂

And the rain came down, down, down…

So the weather man was right again… rain all day. It really made the morning hard for us to get to the doctors appointments and then to run errands. There were numerous accidents and people driving slowly. We were late for the first doctor, but so was everyone behind us so we were still seen. When we got home the chickens were out in the yard getting a bath and they got some of the scrap cauliflower for a treat. The rain was coming down hard and the tractors were eerie distant in the rain…

The rose-bush seemed to enjoy another drink and is getting so big with all the rain…

It’s one of those afternoons that I don’t mind the rain now that I am home. I got a nap, the garden is getting water, and I don’t have to feel bad about resting and reading. I hope you have a blessed week 🙂

Special Mothers…

I am happy to report my Mom said I gave her a happy Mother’s Day 🙂 The yellow tulips above are flowers my hubby brought home for her at my request (what a great guy). We had a nice weekend with nice warm (today hot) weather. Yesterday we went to the farmers market, yard sales, and a book sale.

We then worked in the garden. I have some lovely tomatoes starting…

Today after I made mom an omelet for breakfast (her favorite thing for breakfast) we finished up the plants that needed to go into the garden. I then made lunch for her of BBQ chicken (with my homemade BBQ sauce), potato salad, deviled eggs (curtasy of “the girls”), and from the farmers market pickled beats, pickles, strawberries, and pickled okra.

The dogs hung out under the table and waited for scraps to fall…

It was a nice weekend and the weather held out… it is supposed to rain for a few days this week so I am enjoying the last of the sun. I will leave you with this final photo and wish…

Happy Mother’s Day Mom… Love you 🙂
