The Big Storm…

Last night the heat finally got out of hand and caused a really bad storm. We had poring rain, hail, lightning, thunder, and the wind was so fast and hard. The storm lasted for a few hours and cause a lot of damage. It reminded me of when I was a child and sat though bad hurricanes. I found one article about it http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/48024138/ns/weather/. Luckey (well thanks to God as we were praying hard) we only lost power for 18 hours and then they fixed the main line up the road so we got the  power back earlier then expected. All we could hear on the radio was it could be 2 to 10 days before we would get it back so we consider ourselves blessed. Poor little Chase was so scared when I had to run out into the storm last night to grab the grill cover and lay down the patio furniture. This storm came out of no where or I would have put them away earlier.

We lost the chicken run, but the house inside the coop held well and the girls were safe. We tried to fix it today, but only got it covered up until we can get the material we need, as we had downed power lines so we couldn’t get out all day. It’s not secure from animals, but their house still is. We also lost a couple of sides/big limbs to a couple of different trees. Our neighbor lost a lot of trees so we were out helping him chop and pile them up once we were done in our yard. We still have our trees to deal with, but hubby is still sick so the tree branches in our yard can wait till tomorrow or Monday. Anyways, if you got some of this storm I hope you are well. I am off to do some chores I couldn’t get done earlier without power.

Heat, Humidity, and Awards

The temperature got up over 100* today and felt even higher with the humidity. I walked outside this morning at 7:30 AM and I was already sweating just letting the chickens out of the coop. I am glad I put fresh cold water in all the buckets and in the baby/doggie pool last night so the chickens all had fresh water today. What we really need is this…

A nice cool waterfall for the chickens to drink out of and the dogs to get into. (Hey I wouldn’t mind it myself.)

I wanted to give a shout out to Life As Story Blog http://thewrightsstuff.wordpress.com who gave me my second nomination for the One Lovely Blog Award. She is a home schooling mom who finds joy in every day things 🙂 Since I have already filed the requirements for this award in my previous post https://seasonsgirl.wordpress.com/2012/06/22/one-lovely-blog-award/  I will leave this at a Thank you to Life As Story.

It’s suppose to be over 100* with bad humidity this whole weekend so I will be spending a lot of time inside doing chores and organizing. I hope you all have a beautiful and blessed weekend…. I am off to take care of hubby as he has strep throat and the flu so he needs some extra TLC right now.

I have been nominated for two more awards… the Very Inspiring Blogger Award and Inspiring Blogger Award… I am not sure if they are the same thing… but since I don’t know I am going to address both of them.  I didn’t want to wait much longer to thank the generous bloggers who gave me the award nominations. Small visitors…

I love when you see the small things…. On our visit to the gardens we saw a lot of small visitors. I guess I should call them residents, but you never know if they are just passing through. These little critters are so cute and I am glad I got to see them. Each provides a special blessing and were created by God.

Had one of these dragonflies in the yard the other day 🙂

Can you see the little frog? It was no bigger then the tip of my thumb.

Have you had any critters visit you lately?

The Gardens…

While visiting my mom with hubby and the dogs we went to Botanical Gardens so I could take some photos of the flowers in bloom. I got some great shots so I thought I would share some of them today. I always think of flowers as Gods blessings in beautiful packages.

Stop and Enjoy…

This afternoon would have been a great one for a boat ride….

A stroll in the park…

A good day to stop and smell the roses…

Or watch a new family take a swim…

Here on our little neck of the woods we are enjoying sitting on our newly painted front porch, sipping tea, and watching the birds. The dogs are with us watching all the animals and the chickens are pecking the newly cut grass.  Whatever you did this Monday I hope you got to enjoy some of the most beautiful wheather we have had in a long time. It reminds me of when I was a kid… riding my bike, the parents on the porch drinking iced tea, and us kids running in the yard being kids. Happy Monday everyone 🙂

A hard days work…

As I said in my blog yesterday my mom and her husband came up yesterday to celebrate her birthday weekend. Last night we took her out for a walk and shopping in old town Frederick and then out to dinner. We had a fun time 🙂

Today it was chore day… not that I wanted my mom to work on her birthday weekend, but we needed to get the deck painted, they volunteered to help this weekend, so that’s what we did. We painted the back deck and front porch. They look so nice now. Sorry I didn’t take photos, but I was so busy working and didn’t want to get paint on my camera. I did get a picture of this bee when we got done….

Tomorrow is back to work for me and mom travels home… but first I will be fixing her a wonderful breakfast as it is her real birthday day tomorrow:)

Have a blessed week everyone 🙂

Celebrate…

This weekend is my mom’s birthday weekend 🙂 She is on her way here so we can spend the weekend celebrating. My mom loves Botanical Gardens near where she lives. When hubby and I visited a few weeks ago we went there and I got some great photos…

An orange rose for mom…

I hope I can make this weekend nice for my mom and show her a good time on her birthday… stay tuned…

Starting with a smile….

One Lovely Blog Award

Marsha Lee from http://tchistorygal.wordpress.com/, nominated my blog for the Lovely Blog Award! I am so blessed! This is my third award and each one is special in it own way and brings a different blessing. It is so wonderful someone appreciates my blog enough to nominate me so thank you Marsha Lee. Marsha Lee’s blog is filled with memories of her teaching, lovely photos, and engaging personal thoughts. Thank you Marsha Lee. 🙂

These are the rules for receiving this award:

1.) Thank the person who nominated you and link back to them in your post.  (See above)

2.) Share 7 things about yourself.

  •  I love the Lord… if you haven’t figured that out yet. God is my leader, provider, and keeper of my heart.
  • My husband and I are working to start our family. I have loved kids since I was one. I love to care for them and just be in their presence. I long for one of my (our) own and am just waiting on God’s timing.
  • I love animals, especially dogs, horses, chickens, goats, and most farm animals. I also love red pandas and otters (they are just so cute and interesting).
  • I love to cook, especially for my family.
  • I love to bake and have a special family cookie I make on holidays that are in high demand at my job (they are requested and people get mad if a holiday goes by and I don’t make them).
  • I play the clarinet (since age 12) and the piano (since age 5). I played though college and have tapered off since, but am working to get back my “skills”.
  • I am a neat freak… I love to keep my house clean and organized… sometimes to my husbands frustration 😉

3.) Nominate 15 or so bloggers you admire.

In no particular order, here are the 15 blogs that I have enjoyed during my blogging journey.
