There is still snow on the ground and ice under and on top… it is cold. It is so cold that not only is our fresh spring frozen over, but our chicken eggs froze too, despite the heat lamps in the chicken coop.
The chickens seem to be doing well and seem warm enough in the coop. They are getting to be spoiled by the treat block we put in there. So today to get them some exercise, as it wasn’t as cold (If you consider 10* not as cold) and they got to get out of the coop.
The buffs seemed happy to be out and about and not all cooped up 😉 (LOL)
The road still have patches of ice on them…
And until today there was still snow all along the roadsides…
The mountains were pretty with snow though…
Hope where ever you are, especially if you are getting all this cold, that you find a warm and cozy spot to cuddle up 🙂
Our eggs have been freezing and cracking despite the heat lamp. We finally saw a plow go down our road yesterday; only 4 days after we got all the snow. Starting to warm up – we’re in above zero temps now – but the snow and ice are still everywhere. Needless to say, we haven’t been leaving the house lately. Stay warm!
I had never had that happen before to our eggs… so it was a surprise. I knew it could happen, but it was crazy it actually did 😉 One year we had over 5 feet of snow and a plow didn’t make it down our road for a week,,, I loved it… didn’t have to go to work, got to hang out with hubby, my house was spotless, I did a lot of baking and cooking… it was GREAT 🙂 Hope you had a good time being snowed in and are staying warm 🙂
The first picture made me think of ice fishing. I have never ice fished but seen pictures of people who do. All the pictures are great. You chickens are beautiful and they do look like they are enjoying getting to be out and about. Sorry your eggs froze but glad your chickens stayed warm and are doing okay in the frigid weather. Hugs
I didn’t think of that… ice fishing…I am happy you like the chickens pictures, they were enjoying getting out 🙂 No more frozen eggs since, so that is good. We are keeping warm here and trying to just get chores done and get inside. Hope you are staying warm as well 🙂
