Every year it seems on hubbys birthday it snows. This year it was no different as I had told you in my last post. It started snowing Friday mid day and didn’t stop till sometime early Sunday morning. 3ft in total with some drifts that went taller.
On Saturday we started snow blowing and shoveling. The snow was going sideways, but we knew if we didn’t keep up with the snow, it would freeze and make it impossible for the snow blower to work properly. So while hubby was snow blowing I was shoveling around the vehicles the walkway, and the front porch as that was the only door of the house we could get in and out. This was after we had tracked and shoveled to the chicken coop with water and treats for the chickens stuck inside.
Sunday brought more shoveling and snow blowing to try to get my SUV dug out and more of the driveway cleared. We had it where the truck could get out… until a neighbor came by in his tractor with a plow and pushed snow all back in front of our drive. Didn’t matter anyways as the road was still so bad we couldn’t get out even with 4×4.
Monday was more shoveling and attempting to dig out the mailbox, which still hasn’t completely happened.
Tuesday more shoveling in the driveway so we could get both vehicles in and out one at a time and paths in the back yard for the dogs.
Both Baxter and Chase had limited times outside as I didn’t want them getting too cold or frostbitten paws. The snow was clumping especially on Chase’s fur covered paws. We decided we may need to look into snow boots for him as his paws just get covered and he won’t come in as he loves the snow so we just don’t want hurt paws. Baxter on the other hand didn’t mind not being outside he enjoyed his bed inside more.
Grayson enjoyed watching all of us from the windows and watching the birds who came to the bird feeders we had out front.
So our snow adventure had us snowed in at our place and just chilling where we were warm, safe, and still had power so all went well. Now its back to work and life… If it wasn’t for the shoveling… I miss being snowed in and the world stopping for a few days.
We has this same snow the week before and looks like your storm may head my way again! Great quiet weekend but not so great for our cattle finding shelter from the wind and snow. Some have sense enough to go to the woods but others not so much! Have a safe week!

Ya sometimes it’s the animals we worry about more than ourselves. I hope your cows are doing well now. We are over a week past our storm and are still digging out. Hope y’all are doing well. Thanks for the comment I always enjoy hearing from you. 🙂
That is A LOT OF SNOW! What a birthday present…Looks like the dogs had a blast and I love your beautiful pictures. I hope that you are all “dug” out although I would assume that it would take quite a while for the 3 feet of “whiteness” to go away.
We are preparing for winter storm Kayla which started this afternoon and is supposed to really hit tonight. They have canceled school for tomorrow so it looks like I will have some extra helpers at the feed yard 🙂
Take care,
Anne
