Wish… Deferred?

Have you ever had a wish or do you have a wish… a wish that is so deep down in your heart that you are afraid to say it out loud? A wish that you have wanted so bad and long that you stop saying it out loud and keep it buried inside. Something you have prayed for and hoped for that it seems impossible at times, but others times the hope pops up when you least expect it.

I have had a couple wishes like this and for a long time I moved between thinking I should give up and then times I know God can provide. Recently I have come upon the idea of thinking of these secret hopes and dreams as delayed. God can provide our hopes and dream when they are in line with his plan for our lives, even when they seem impossible… but sometimes I have figured out in the mean time there are things I can do to prepare or to improve during periods of wait.

Many times we may think of our unanswered dreams as a yes or no thing… but there is the “wait” option. And during the waiting time we can improve ourselves, our lives, our perspectives, our families, our faith. Its not always easy or fun, but it is possible and often it helps to have purpose during times of wait. It also may be just what we need to be doing to be our best when our dreams do come 🙂 Do you have secret hopes in your heart? How do you cope during periods of wait?

Coop Cleaning…

Last week we finally got a nice enough day to clean out the chicken coop. This means we rake, shovel, and scrape out all the old hay, shavings, dirt, and whatever else is in there. In it’s place we disinfect ( in a way that doesn’t hurt the chickens) and while that is setting in we clean out and spray down the boxes and get anything we can out into the sun light and spray it off with the water hose.  Once everything is as clean as we can get it we put down fresh hay and new shavings in the boxes.

Our girls always love scratching around in the new hay and seeing what they can find. Its like a kid on their birthday playing with the box. Its funny to hear their happy noises and see them explore. Even the dogs try to go in and check it out (if we would let them). We rearranged things some this season to give them more space inside incase they have to stay in with the winter weather.

Chase is always a good supervisor for chores that take a while. Baxter is happy to sit on the porch and sleep.

I’m glad we got this chore done and have the girls already for the winter. One chore down… many more to go 😉

Autumn is upon us… I love it

I love fall. If I had to pick a favorite season I would choose fall. It is the season hubby and I were married in, it has great weather for my boots, jeans and a vest, its not too rainy, its not too hot or too cold, and its the beginning of the good food season… hot apple cider, soups, stews, roasts, and all sorts of other comfort foods. One activity hubby and I like to do is go to a farm to pick out our own pumpkin(s).

We spend quite a bit of time looking over our options, putting them side by side, and finding just the right ones for the year. Its like picking out the perfect Christmas tree for us. (Well I guess the Christmas tree is more special, but this is just as fun 🙂 )

When we get them home we find them just the right spots and get out our other fall decorations.

The dogs always like to explore the new additions… (look at this cute face)

And take time to explore them.

We even got a neat shaped one for our side steps. I thought it was very unique.

We had so much fun when we got to go this year and bring home these beauties to decorate our home.

Flowers and Gardens

While we were on our overnight anniversary trip we went to a botanical gardens.

The outside path was lined with gardens with pretty flower spinners.

It was a pretty place and a lot of indoor displays, more then I had seen in other gardens like this.

Some had things in them.

Other’s were mostly flowers.

The had ones for kids. (you know I loved the one with the chicken 😉 )

Many of them had glass sculptures in them.

One was in a desert…

And the glass looked like a sun.

It was neat what someone can do with glass.

I love to look at flowers and find it very interesting how someone can create something so beautiful with different flowers.

And they were all beautiful.

Anniversary Trip

This past week hubby and I went away overnight for our anniversary. Our neighbor agreed to watch the chickens and feed/let out the dogs so we could go.

mountins

On the drive to Pittsburg, PA we went though the Gap.

It has really pretty views especially in the morning hours. I am usually looking up at the mountains from home. Its a different perspective looking down into the valleys and a different beauty.

We got to do a few things while in Pittsburg including Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and the zoo. I will share on those later. Since we only had an afternoon and a morning to explore on our overnight trip we hope to go back to see more.

We realized we defiantly are country people though as the big city was a little crazy and intimidating, especially driving. Do you have any suggestions for things to see or places to go if we get back anytime?
