Feeling Hot Hot Hot…

Its HOT here today… a nice change from the cold wet weather.  I feel more motivated to get out and do things in nice weather and I am happy for my garden vegetables too as the warmer weather seems to make them grow tall. On our walk the other day through the battlefields I saw some really old pumps. I always see things like this as art. The above pump I really liked and I thought the orange background was so vibrant against the old pump. I also saw the below pump and liked it against the green grass.

The chickens are enjoying the warmer weather and trying to get into my garden… tough luck chickens my fence should keep them out.

Its hot enough the boys are inside enjoying the fan and a late afternoon nap… they are my cuties 🙂

Dinner is chicken and the fixings and then I have to catch up on my reading… I have a pile of magazines two feet tall, no joke, and I want to clean out some clutter. Happy hump day…  I hope you were blessed 🙂

P.S. Anyone want to take a stab at who sang the song that is my title today?

Hikes and Battlefields…

It was such a nice day, perfect weather for a hike. We went to a local battlefield and hiked all over that place. The dogs were in heaven… they LOVE to hike and walk.

My wonderful hubby carried my camera backpack so I coud have both my lenses at hand and it also allowed us to carry water and such.

When we first got to the battlefield there were some painters their painting a pond…

In the pond was a goose swimming, it almost looked as if he was posing for the painters.

A little further up the way and in the river there were two families of geese… Mom, Dad, and babies.

The fields had beautiful flowers in them today all in full bloom.

Then we went from the fields and river to the mountain. There were so many planes today…

The pups took a rest when we got back from the mountain on one of the old house steps.

On the way out of the battlefield we saw a bird we have a difference of opinion on what it was… any ideas?

I hope you all had a beautiful weekend with lots of fun and beautiful weather. Have a blessed week 🙂

The very bland morning…

It’s a still and very bland day… you know one of those days where there is no color in the sky and the sun is nowhere to be seen. It isn’t raining, it isn’t windy, it is just still. The chickens don’t seem happy about this type of day. They are out, but seem more skittish, especially after Chase had to scare away a bird that was getting a little too close. The dogs are snoring on their chair, yet are easily awakened by noise.

Since there is not much to share yet today I wanted to pass along some House Rules we found on a tapestry and have hanging in our house. I hope you have a good Saturday.

10 Things Thursday… 10 Things I Enjoyed About the Festival

So I kind of forgot to do my 10 things post on Tuesday… I don’t know where my brain was. So today I though I would make up for it by sharing 10 things I enjoyed about the festival I went to over the weekend.

10.  The different flower displays.

9. The scenery.

8. This rock.

7. The pottery.

6. Walking around in the crowds.

5. Spending time with my mom.

My mom in her early mother's day gift... a new hat 🙂

4. The weather.

3. The crafts.

 2. The waterfalls.
1. All the flower and vegetable choices.

Whats a girl to do?

The weather man says this rain is supposed to break tomorrow… thank goodness… it is WET here. The chickens have been kept in their run until this afternoon when it went from torrential down pour to light sprinkles. They are happy to be out.

Chase has a vet appointment today to get him a booster on his rabies since he went after that fox. Right now he and Baxter are bugging me to play with them so I best get to that.

I thought I would leave you this fine rainy day with some more photos of my festival adventures from Saturday. Happy Monday 🙂

Soggy Sunday after Sunny Saturday…

It started raining shortly after we got done at the Flower and Garden festival my Mom and I went to yesterday. It was so sunny and beautiful the entire time we were at the show and I had to sing a little praise to God for holding off the rain till after we got to see the whole festival. I got so many good shots I want to make a slide show for you to watch… but I have to figure this out first on my new computer, then figure out how to post it. My husband and I have been sharing his computer for a while and finally I have saved enough for one of my own 🙂 (Big smile, I will post a photo of it once my new lid for it comes in).

Anyways back to the garden show. There were so many cool plants, flowers, and crafts there. I have never been to a garden show like this and my Mom and I want to make this a tradition. So here are a few of my favorites for you to enjoy especially if you are having a rainy day like me (heavy on the rain).

I saw this on the way into the show in someones yard... I thought it was pretty. I think it is an Allium Onion Flower.

A tree waterfall

The castle door

A glass flower... this guy made them out of old bowls and plates, etc.

One of many waterfalls

Rows of flowers, vegetables, and herbs to buy 🙂

A friendly pup I saw

My motto for the next few days...

Singing in the rain…

Today was a rainy day… I was cold…The mountains were covered with fog and rain… it was a pretty site. I didn’t have my camera as it was charging at home, but I go this shot with my hubby’s phone.

I call this rainy mountain window

It didn’t seem to bother the chickens…

We had to return the work rags I washed for an elderly couple we help out and got asked now to come over once a month to help the wife clean house as she has such bad back pain she is having a hard time keeping up. We then took a drive and got dinner. Over all not a bad rainy day… It makes me wonder what other people’s favorite rainy day activity’s are? Are you a rainy day reader, a traveler, a puddle jumper, a rainy day baker?? Let me know 🙂

Look what my husband brought home…

You will never guess what my husband brought home from the yard sale’s this weekend… We have never spent this much at a yard sale before…

Are you ready for this?

Three Farmall Tractors...

It appears he got a good deal and he and my Dad had decided to use them as projects they can do together. Any one want to buy a tractor??? They all run and start. The smallest is a Farmall Cub and has a woods mower on the bottom. We spent the afternoon mowing the back yard with the Cub, I am pretty sure my hubby and Dad want to keep this one.

The dogs had a grand day as they got to ride to help us pick them up. The Farmall H (the biggest one) I had to drive back home from the guy hubby bought them from, while my Dad brought the other two home on a trailer I loaded them on to. The dogs ran all around the yard and made themselves tired.

So after Chase took a rest he spotted something and took off after it…

A fox in the field...

I didn’t know if I should call him back or let him give that fox a message our hens are not for his dinner…

At this time our chickens were enjoying a nice snack of grain in their coop oblivious of their protector Chase going after that fox...

We got him back, but not until after he had scared the fox off…

The sun set just as we got done with things and it was another beautiful one 🙂

Hope y’all had a great weekend. Have a blessed week 🙂

Wall art…

Happy Thursday 🙂 How has your week been? I wanted to say Hi to my new followers and thank you all for following and visiting my posts. I was not sure when I started my blog a couple of months ago if I would even get one follower or if anyone would be interested in what I had to say. I am happy to have found so many fellow bloggers with the same interests and ideas as I have had. So again thank you…

In our recent travels and drives I had noticed more and more buildings are using art as a way to draw attention or dress up their walls. I have seen some really cool art and thought I would share some today. Some of these places are near us in Virginia and other I have found in Maryland and even on our trip to Nebraska. I always wonder who the artist’s are as I usually look for names on the walls, but have had no success in finding any. Have a happy Thursday 🙂

Have a "sunshine day"...
(Can you guess what January 26, 1973 show made this song popular)
