I found a Bible verse the other day that was very encouraging and I thought I would share it with you today:

2 Samuel 22:31 –  As for God, his way is perfect, the word of the Lord proves true, he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

2 Dalias

I hope it encourages you today and helps you get though the end of your week 🙂

Gratitude in Change

It was a nice day again outside of the wind that just pounds our area over the past few years. I am grateful for the sun today and warmer temperatures that are coming.sky n field

I have been going though another season of acceptance and change as spring begins to come. Do you go though those…you hear or see something that hits home with something you are struggle with, and it sparks a need to change?  I realize like Job from the Bible we have to praise God in the good and in the bad. As Job said ” Shall we accept good from God and not trouble?” (Job 2:9). It is easy to praise God and be grateful when things are going good, but shows real character when we can praise him and be grateful when things are not going our way or when things are bad. That is a goal I have now… gratitude all the time, especially since most of the time things don’t go well or the way I would like 😉  I am hoping this habit will stick 🙂

Family focus on a busy day…

I thought during focus on the family week I would share some things hubby and I do when things are busy to get family time in. Whether you have kids or not family time is important for families and mariages 🙂 Hands

A few things we do when busy to keep up with family time:

1. Family dinners- almost every night we sit down together (some nights its in the car) and talk as we eat.

Easter Dinner

2. Bible study- we try to read a short bible study and out of the Bible nightly before we go to sleep. (image credit google images)Bible rings

3. Play with the dogs before dinner- each day we try to make sure to give the dogs a little love before bed whether that be a 2 minute belly rub or short game of indoor fetch down the hallway. Dogs

4. Cooking together- we try to share cooking and clean up duty- you are doing something, but can also talk and communicate.

5. When we have kidos over we try to keep the TV off and let them help us with cooking, cleaning, etc and make sure if they are staying with us for the night that they always get a bed time story.Micah

6. Dream-  It may seem wierd but we try to do something like look for properties (land) online we would like to have as or farm and talk about what we would do with that land.

Any things you do as a family to keep up with family time when things get busy?

Where is fall ?

I miss spring…

But I love fall. It is my favorite season… I just wish it would act more like fall. You know cool days, sun, and changing leaves. Fall so far has been either warm days or cold day… where is the happy fall medium weather? Today was a little better cooler in the morning, yet it got a little too warm for fall this afternoon and the stink bugs came back. Do you have stink bugs where you live? They are annoying little bugs that have such a smell when you smash them. They are everywhere and have a way to get all in your house. I have even found them in my washing machine… yuck! Well it is Sunday and the start of another week… I hope you have a blessed one.

“All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name.”

Psalm 66:4

“I sought the Lord, and he heard me , and delivered me from all my fears”
Psalms 34:4

If a cat could be deep in thought I think this is what it would look like…

This is my friends cat (the cat of those precious kids you have seen in my posts). I just like the way the cat is looking out the window at the world. I wonder what he is thinking?

A friend loves at all time. – Proverbs 17:17

There are always mountains to climb and goals to reach… some climbs are easy, but most require effort and some falls. In these times I trust in the Lord as I can not do it on my own… I also know I have his love and the love of my husband in these times.

“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”

-1 Corinthians 14:5

Bright Spot…

When I saw these flowers on a recent trip they were a bright spot… despite other beauty around them they stood out. They may not be special in a sea of beauty, but they caught my eye because of their unique inner self.

I think that is how God wants us to be too. He wants us to have a unique inner spirit that is appealing to other, but they may not know why. I think this is a life long process that God wants us to work towards as stated in 1 Peter 3:4 “Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

I think there are many ways we can do this and we are all given special talents to do so. I think there are also some set directions from God we all can follow… Any ideas?

Blessings flow…

I was listening to the radio today and they were talking about how hard it is to have faith when the tough times come. People called in with ideas and suggestions they had tried themselves. There were some interesting suggestions and some showed people’s deep faith. One suggestion reminded me of the weekly blessings blog I try to write. So may time when we are going through a tough time or storm it is hard to see the blessings. If you have been following me for a while or read my ‘About Me’ page you know hubby and I have been trying to start our family… during this time it has been hard to see the light, but there have been many blessings. The biggest change has been our ability to draw closer together during this period of waiting. How wonderful is our Lord that he can turn a time of waiting into a time of blessings.

My thoughts lead me to the Bible verse in James 1:12- “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him”.
