Beautiful Flutterby Suprise

Every once in a while you get to be in the right place at the right time for the good shot. It’s even harder with animals and insects as they are always moving. I was blessed recently to get one of those moments. My mom was up the other weekend and walked to our mailbox. She came back in, had me get my camera, and follow her down the driveway. At the end of the driveway she showed me what she had seen and I was able to be at the right place to see this….Butterfly yellow

Do you see them? They almost blend in with the flowers and if it wasn’t for their movement mom and I might have missed them.Butterfly yellow 5

They stayed on the flowers for a really long time. I hope they did this as they knew we wouldn’t hurt them and just wanted to capture this beauty.Butterfly yellow 3

They stayed on the flowers almost still. I am guessing they were drinking in the pollen and resting.Butterfly yellow 2

The one seemed to turn so we could capture all his/her good sides 🙂Butterfly yellow 6

Another turn…Butterfly yellow 4

I just love to look at these pictures and think of how much beauty and peace these butterflies bring. It was just such a beautiful and peaceful moment to have. I am glad I had someone to share it and enjoy it with.

Blue

Its been a blue kind of day… mood and weather wise… rain, rain, and clouds. The rain stopped briefly at times off and on all day. This little butterfly was a visitor of ours and its lovely blue wings matched my mood and also provided a momentary mood lift.Blu butterflyWhat a pretty color blue 🙂 It is a metallic blue that seems to shine. Blu butterfly 3She made sure to show off both her good sides…Blu butterfly 4Each time she turned she stayed still enough for me to snap a picture…Blu butterfly2How sweet was she to stay around so long and provide me some beauty on a rainy day 🙂

Beauty of Flight

Some things that I see instantly make me think of the beauty of God… rainbows, beautiful days, a baby, and on my birthday trip to the zoo butterflies. It would seem that a creature like a butterfly with its delicate wings and big body would have a hard time flying as gracefully as it does…

But somehow it does. I would also thing landing on something hard like a leaf the wings would tear….

But they don’t…

It is one reason I really love butterfly gardens and the beautiful creature God created… the butterfly. Like all of God creatures, including us… we are all special and have a purpose 🙂

Signs of Smiles :)

It smells like fall finally. 🙂 On my way home tonight I had my windows down and I smelled the leave and all the scents of fall. It was so nice after a long day.

Fall just starting…

There are certain things that make me happy when I see them or smell them… the smell of fall, cookies baking,  a butterfly, a rainbow, a bible, my dogs, and kiddos  are in that long list.

So when I get to smile at kids and dogs after a long day it does the heart good… I took these on Monday while watching kiddos for my friend. I love these kids and my pups 😉

“L” and Baxter

“M” and Chase

Laid Back Monday…

Had another little visitor today… such a pretty lady 🙂 Not much happened today…. hubby is still sick so I used the time he was sleeping to work outside after it cooled off.

Chase watched me water the garden, the flowers, and clean the porch off. We had tacos for dinner and the lettuce, tomatoes, and onions came from our own garden. 🙂

I love it now that the garden is starting to produce. When I need something I can just go into the garden and get it 🙂 The cucumbers are also starting to climb and there are little baby cucumbers on the vine.

Last year I made pickles with our cucumbers. Some come out and others were too sour. Not sure what I want to do with the extra produce this year, but I have an interest in learning to can. With all this hot weather we all seem to be having and some people still without power I was wondering what you all are doing to stay cool?

One Lovely Blog Award

Marsha Lee from http://tchistorygal.wordpress.com/, nominated my blog for the Lovely Blog Award! I am so blessed! This is my third award and each one is special in it own way and brings a different blessing. It is so wonderful someone appreciates my blog enough to nominate me so thank you Marsha Lee. Marsha Lee’s blog is filled with memories of her teaching, lovely photos, and engaging personal thoughts. Thank you Marsha Lee. 🙂

These are the rules for receiving this award:

1.) Thank the person who nominated you and link back to them in your post.  (See above)

2.) Share 7 things about yourself.

  •  I love the Lord… if you haven’t figured that out yet. God is my leader, provider, and keeper of my heart.
  • My husband and I are working to start our family. I have loved kids since I was one. I love to care for them and just be in their presence. I long for one of my (our) own and am just waiting on God’s timing.
  • I love animals, especially dogs, horses, chickens, goats, and most farm animals. I also love red pandas and otters (they are just so cute and interesting).
  • I love to cook, especially for my family.
  • I love to bake and have a special family cookie I make on holidays that are in high demand at my job (they are requested and people get mad if a holiday goes by and I don’t make them).
  • I play the clarinet (since age 12) and the piano (since age 5). I played though college and have tapered off since, but am working to get back my “skills”.
  • I am a neat freak… I love to keep my house clean and organized… sometimes to my husbands frustration 😉

3.) Nominate 15 or so bloggers you admire.

In no particular order, here are the 15 blogs that I have enjoyed during my blogging journey.

Some of the sites you may not get back to as regularly as you mean to do, so this is a great way to revisit those who have encouraged you along the way. Thanks so much to all of you, and especially http://tchistorygal.wordpress.com/ Marsha Lee for this nomination.

Weed and Feed

It was a nicer day today… less humidity and a great evening to get out in the garden to pull weeds. The vegetable plants are growing like crazy and I am happy to see them get bigger and not die 🙂 I wanted to get all the weeds away from my growing plants so they can keep growing and not fight for the nutrients. The dogs were running around like crazy while I was weeding and then took a rest on the porch.

The ladies enjoyed some snacks tonight of watermelon, cracked corn, and strawberry tops. The neighbor came over to tell us a couple of our “ladies” got out and he put them back yesterday. We have a couple that like to try to explore outside of the safety of the fence. They also enjoyed my weeding of the garden as they could eat what I pulled out.

I had to work overtime today, but when I got home I remembered why I love to live with some land, chickens, my garden, my pups, and my loving hubby. It’s Thursday tomorrow, which means only two more days of work before I am off. I have a busy next couple of weekends ahead of me, so I am glad I had a relaxing Memorial Day weekend to prepare. I hope you all have a great rest of the week 🙂
