Growing and Changing Spaces

Our baby chick’s are officially out in the coop with the big girls. They have their own space in the coop and are protected from the big girls,  but can see, hear,  and somewhat interact with each other. Before the big move the coop was cleaned and the babies spent some more time outside.  This was the closest the babies have been to the … Read More Growing and Changing Spaces

A little birdie 🐦…

We had a visitor to our chicken coop. We had a similar visitor last year as well. A little brown birdie built a nest in one of our highest nesting boxes. You could see her in there off and on and a couple eggs… She and her little babies are gone now so we moved her nest to the burn pile for the fall, … Read More A little birdie 🐦…

I don’t know what it is… being so busy, this virus throwing things a little wonky, or just the fact that every year seems to go by faster and faster… but a friend of mine texted me today to say Happy First Day of Fall and I was like “whoa it is already fall”! How did that … Read More Surprise It’s Fall!

Growing and Learning

I said in my last post I would post about our chicken run we built for the baby chicks to be outside in, yet safe from predators like hawks. And it works we have had a hawk try to get them in here without success. We have also used it to separate chickens as needed like when they are minor sick or injured. Keeps them outside … Read More Growing and Learning

Late Summer Update

Our little piece of God’s earth is trying to keep up with the change in weather from bouts of rain to dry humid heat. The grass is good when we get some rain and the chickens love all the bugs… The birds are still having babies and one mom has taken over our smaller birdhouse… Inside I am trying to keep up with the … Read More Late Summer Update

Happy Happy Chickens!

The grass is back, the tress are coming out, the flowers are blooming, and the chickens are happy. Yet its either hot and humid or were having thunder storms and tornado warnings… I am not sure what season to call this, its not spring, or summer… I think I will just call it crazy!

Back to business…

The snow is starting to melt and the girls are enjoying getting back out to forage They are enjoying being out in the parts of the yard that are free from snow And finding bugs that are coming out now that the snow is melting I am happier because I am getting more eggs They are much happier now that they can be out … Read More Back to business…
