Happy Memorial Day 2017!

2 pups wish

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. The holiday, which is currently observed every year on the last Monday of May, was held on May 30 from 1868-1971. It marks the start of the unofficial summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries. Memorial Day is not to be confused with Veterans Day; Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving, while Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans. Today hubby had to work this morning so I worked around the house, got the 2+ month old now chicks out into their outside pen for some fresh air, and did a few things around the house. My boys were on the porch watching me work and usually sleeping…

A big thanks to all members of the military who are standing up for our freedom and allow us to celebrate this day. May God bless you and your families 🙂

Veteran

Today in the USA it is Veterans Day. This is a day we honor all the men and woman who have ever served as part of our military.  Today we want to personally thank any service member past or present who has put their lives on the line for my family and this country we live in. I have veterans in my family and I am proud of their service. Flags

Today we celebrated by visiting a veteran friend of ours. He is in his 80’s and was in WW-II. He shared with us about some of his experiences after the war and his bond with his “brother” from the war. We helped him cut some wood and he gave us some since we are low. I then went to visit a new mom friend of mine. She has 4 kids and is expecting her 5th. She needed some adult conversation and I entertained the kids some too. She is a sweet soul and I met her in the new church we have been going to for a couple months now. I send out a prayer for any military who are over seas right now or who are about to deploy for safety and strength for their families.  Blessing to them and their families. Happy Veterans Day!

Happy Labor Day

Just wanted to wish all of you a Happy Labor Day… here in America we celebrate Labor Day, the first Monday in September. It was a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. (Taken from http://www.dol.gov/opa/aboutdol/laborday.htm)

Hope those fo you who got today off enjoyed it. My hubby worked until 1 then came home and we ran errands and did some more chores around the house. It was nice to get things accomplished, but it seems once we get one project done we find three more. Oh well, at least we won’t get bored. 😉

Independence Day…

Happy Independence Day or Happy 4th of July 🙂

Do you know why we celebrate Independence Day which is Americas Birthday??? Independence Day is the national holiday of the United States of America commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Although the signing of the Declaration was not completed until August, the 4th of July has been accepted as the official anniversary of United States independence. The first Independence Day celebration took place the following year – July 4, 1777. By the early 1800s the traditions of parades, picnics, and fireworks were established as the way to celebrate America’s birthday. (taken from http://www.holidays.net/)

The sun came out :)

The sun was out in full force today. It was such a beautiful day I was so eager to get home and into the yard. Image

The dogs spent the day laying in the sun and playing.

The chickens were all over the yard and sunning themselves.

Hubby spent time mowing the grass and weed eating. I spent time in the garden, cleaning up the chicken coop, and playing with the pups. Over all it was a… good day sunshine 😉
