Good Reminder….

I got this in an e-mail today. A good reminder… image036

No one gets their way 100% of the time and like children we can not throw tantrums or start a riot every time we don’t get our own way. There is a way to do things peacefully and the peaceful way usually gets the most positive notice in the long run. If as adults we do not model positive way to do things and deal with perceived disappointsĀ to the generations that come after us then we set ourselves up for more chaos in our homes, nation, and world. Just a thought…

Happy Thanksgiving (Thankful day)

The USA celebrates Thanksgiving today… a day that originated when the pilgrims’ and the Indians put aside their differences to celebrate together and focus on the things they shared. Today I challenge us to focus on the positive, the good, and the things we have in common and to be grateful to celebrate those things.

Today I am thankful for many things and am choosing to keep my focus and the focus on my life with what God has given me and how I can serve others, starting with my family šŸ™‚

Today I am grateful for:

  1. My salvation in Christ- without it I would be a lost soul
  2. My husband- the person I rely on and love to be with
  3. My dogs and kitty- my sanity in a crazy world who always love me and are good for a smile
  4. My church- where I grown and learn and can be around like souls
  5. My family- esp. my mom and step-dad who are always willing to help
  6. My chickens- you can’t beat fresh eggs and their funny antics
  7. My home- its a safe and warm place to be and I always can’t wait to be home
  8. My garden- I love to grow my own food, can it, and freeze it
  9. My job- I don’t like all of it but at least I have the ability to have one
  10. Music- if you choose right it can feed your soul, calm you spirit, and change your perspective

I could go on and on, but I must get back to family and Thanksgiving in my home šŸ™‚ Hope your having a blessed day!

Belated Veterans Day

Since I didn’t have time on Friday to post I wanted to today. A rainbow can remind us of many things… the promise from God, hope, beauty, love, and more….

rainbow-1

But today I wanted to use it to thank anyone who has served in the United states Military. Without their sacrifice, honor, bravery, and love of this country I believe we would not be the country we are. No matter what, our military members are people to be respected and thanked for their willingness to do what they do. Hubby and I have members ofĀ our family’s who have served. Both of us have heard stories of things they have done and we know the toll it takes on their families. So thank you if you are a military family. I pray God will continue to protect and bless America. Hope you have a blessed holiday season (I can’t believe it is Thanksgiving next week… snuck up on me šŸ˜‰ )

Do you remember…

Do you remember where you were (if you are old enough) on 9-11 when you heard the words – America is under attack. The moment- the emotions you felt? Did you watch the twin towers fall? Do you remember the sadness that followed? Today I talked to many people we could all remember the moment, what we heard, saw, and what happened after in the following months.

Do you remember after the hero’s- some that were always hero’s but not given the credit as much- and every day citizens who became hero’s sometimes giving their own life to save others. Firefighters and other first responders who ran into buildings to save people instead of saving themselves. People who went toĀ lead others to safety.

Do you remember after when people were in the streets praying, sharing that they had relied on God when they thought it might be the end for them? Do you remember that for a time our country pulled together for a common cause, instead of fighting and pulling our own country apart? ThatĀ event brought us together on bended knee and in a common direction. Bravery in response… unity in spirit.

I have been thinking all day of how I should write a 9-11 blog and do this memory justice. It seems as if America has forgotten this day… how it affected us in the days that followed. We say we haven’t forgotten… we say we remember through our ceremonies and events… we thank those who serve in the military, firefighters, police, and paramedicsĀ (not saying this is wrong I think this is very important). But when you look at what is going on in our country and the way we divide ourselves with our pride, bitterness, and draw away from what founded this wonderful country… I see a lot of America have forgotten.

I haven’t forgotten, my church has not forgotten, some of those I know haven’t forgotten, and I know those who were directly affected and are survivors or family of survivors haven’t forgotten. There is still evil out there ready to attack… they are attacking many countries… so today as we remember 9-11Ā lets not forget that America still needs unity. We still need to remember what it felt like to pull together as citizen’s of a great country and focus our cause on defeating evil instead of creating evil in our country or allowing it to reside here.Ā My prayer today is that America starts to remember what we really need in this country and unify around God and defeating evil so we can continue to be a great country. As a country divided we will eventually not stand. IĀ hope today if you are a citizenĀ ofĀ America or affected in any way by 9-11,Ā thatĀ you remember or tell someone who wouldn’t remember what American was like, what this event was like,Ā and encourage each other to unify and remember. Remember in our thoughts, actions, and motives in a positive direction. God bless America.

HAPPY EASTER!

Best Part of Snow

There are many things you can say about snow… its cold, its wet, its messy, its too deep, its too hard to seeĀ when itĀ gets going good… You could say all these things, but why not also see the positives? Why not see the beauty? In our recent 3 feet of snow I could have seen many negatives and at times I think the biggest negative was being sore from digging out, but looking at the picture below I see something else…

Birds n snow

I see the beauty in the snow falling softly. I see the birds using the snow as cover to come to the feeders and eat. I see quiet in the middle of a busy world (yes I know you hear quiet, but I can remember the quiet from this picture). I see the trees holding up all the snow powerful and strong. I see a beauty that is not in our world at other times. Snow can be calming, it can be relaxing, it can relieve stress, it can stop a world that is always to busy, to stressful, and to overworked. It reminds us and sometimes makes us slow down and remember that in this world where we live, we need to actually live. This snow gave hubby and I time to do a little living… living by loving on our pets, spending time together, getting some things done for us, taking some time to really rest without worrying about what was not getting done, watching the snow fall so peacefully at times we couldn’t help but to sigh and let ourselves relax. Snow can give you a different perspective and a different view of your own world.

“And the peace of God, which transends all understanding, willĀ guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”

Praying

Every time I hear of another terror attack, school shooting, shooting at a theater, music hall, or other place my heart gets sad. I just can’t stand the evil that’s out there.

Sunflowers

Right now I chose to join with those that are praying for Paris and I continue to pray for every person affected by any of these kind of events.

Happy Veterans Day!

Today in the USA is Veterans Day. As I watched some TV today there were lots of programs and shows honoring veterans. But as I watched them it struck me how they seemed to skim over the real “honoring” part. Some shows did a great job, while others said a short thank you and moved on.

Dogs 4th

I want to try to make up a little for where our culture falls short on really appreciating the men and women who sacrifice so our country canĀ maintain its freedoms. These men and women sacrifice their time, family life, sleep, safety, happiness, comforts, and even their lives for the rest of us who live in the USA. You aren’t appreciated enough and are often taken for granted, but… I want to say a bigĀ THANK YOU … MY FAMILY APPERCIATES YOU… YOU ARE OUR HEROS… and so much more to those of you who have ever served in the military in any capacity and for those of you who currently serve THANK YOU and you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God bless you and your families šŸ™‚

Beauty Filled Day

Our little piece of God’s land had some nice weather today and earlier this week. It was nice enough that the dogs laid in the yard and not in the shade of the porch.

Baxlay

Baxter kept trying not to look at me when I was walking around checking on the chickens and snapping shots of him.

He used to pose for me, but anymore he seems to just tolerate my photo obsession. some days though he will still pose and look handsome for me šŸ˜‰

Usually Chase helps me with the chickens, but today Baxter watched them for me while I checked out their coop and collected eggs.

Bax and chicks

I am going back to work Monday after almost three months off after my surgery and complications. I have mixed feelingĀ because I have loved being home and being a homemaker. Everything is so organized and clean, just the way I like it. But I know I have to go back šŸ˜¦ Maybe some day God will bless us with a baby and I can stay home with them.

But until then my boys are my babies and I love them šŸ™‚
