Throw Back to Baby Grayson

I was looking through older pictures and saw a lot of baby Baxter and baby Chase and the chickens… then I came across baby Grayson. I can’t believe he was this small. I could hold him in one hand.

Crazy how fast they grow (been told this happens when you have babies too 😉 ) Glad we have photography to document it. I just love their baby faces 🙂

New Sun Spot

Our baby Grayson is over a year old now. He has his own personality, own language and way he communicates, and he has adopted many spots all over the house that are his. His newest spot is on a new storage unit in the office of our home.

cat

It may be the afternoon sun he likes… or watching the birds on the feeders on the tree outside this window… maybe its the little mat on the top… or the plants to hide in… but whatever it is, we now have a new spot to look for him, when we are searching for him. But wherever I find him I know I will get one of his cute little meows and he will let me cuddle him face to face. Love this boy!

Snow, Bird, whatever that was…

Our little Grayson has a few perches in the house that he loves to sit in. During each season he has different things to watch and he will use one perch more then others. Right now he loves this one as he can see many things. He has recently been enjoying the snow falling…

Watching the birds fly from the tree right below this window or the chickens in the yard.

And sometimes I am not sure what he is seeing, but it sure keeps his interest.

thumbnail_20170107_092901

Its entertaining watching him be entertained by all the things he sees. It’s also cute to hear him make little noises with different things he sees and watch him sometimes try to go after something, only realizing he can’t get it when his paw swipes the glass pane of the window. I think he is calmest though when he watches the snow… but I can’t blame him that’s when I am calmest too 🙂

Time for Snow Fun…

Good morning…. Chase is ready for more snow fun today. He can’t wait to be out again today playing and having fun.

chase

(Who can resist this face that says “mommy let me play in the snow”) The plan is to finish inside chores and in between take snow breaks to let him run about and play. I am sure Baxter will join him some of the time. Today should be full of snow adventures.

Wrangling…

Since we got our Christmas tree I have been trying to get all the boys in front of it at one time to get a picture. Usually the two boys will be laying in front of it…

2-boys

Or the cat… but not usually all three. But if they are all in the vicinity, by the time I get my camera, one of them is moving…

But today I must have been on my game and it may have helped I was giving them their treats for the day and they all sat still just long enough for this picture…

But as soon as Grayson got his treat he was gone off to play. Its tough wrangling a cat (you know what I mean if you have one). Once they had their treats I made a treat for hubby and I…. some yummy gluten free cinnamon rolls.

They turned out pretty good for me doing them this way, I know they aren’t that beautiful but they taste a lot better then they look. It didn’t involve any yeast as I didn’t have the time to let them rise, etc. They will make a different yummy breakfast or mid day snack like today.  Hope you will treat yourself to something special this week that will make you smile.

Wrapping all the way…

Traditions are important to every person I know or have come into contact with. Our traditions usually come from our families, but once you get married you usually come up with some of your own. One tradition hubby and I do is try to have all our gifts bought by Thanksgiving or the week after and then have them wrapped by this time each year. This year hubbys family was here right after thanksgiving so we sent all that side of the families gifts back with them last week (saves on postage). Usually the pups hang out with me while I wrap, and this year I had a little extra help…

grayson-table

Its been a fun and interesting experience to have our first cat as a married couple. Our Grayson has his own crazy yet sweet personality and he is like a little kid… he has to be in the middle of whatever I do.

chase-paper-box

I have been having to figure out how to wrap when he gets on the paper and decides to take a nap or use the paper as a scratching area….

chase-wrappingpapper

Even with something that could seem like an inconvenience I find myself finding it funny and hubby and I giggle at all his antics (except scratching the paper… that’s a bad habit to let start). So the tradition hubby and I started 8 years ago now has a new twist with Grayson in the mist and we have to be okay with things sometime take a little longer when he decided to “help” 🙂

Hope your Christmas season has started out with traditions, old and new, people you care about, and memories that will last.

Happy Thanksgiving (Thankful day)

The USA celebrates Thanksgiving today… a day that originated when the pilgrims’ and the Indians put aside their differences to celebrate together and focus on the things they shared. Today I challenge us to focus on the positive, the good, and the things we have in common and to be grateful to celebrate those things.

kitty

Today I am thankful for many things and am choosing to keep my focus and the focus on my life with what God has given me and how I can serve others, starting with my family 🙂

pups

Today I am grateful for:

  1. My salvation in Christ- without it I would be a lost soul
  2. My husband- the person I rely on and love to be with
  3. My dogs and kitty- my sanity in a crazy world who always love me and are good for a smile
  4. My church- where I grown and learn and can be around like souls
  5. My family- esp. my mom and step-dad who are always willing to help
  6. My chickens- you can’t beat fresh eggs and their funny antics
  7. My home- its a safe and warm place to be and I always can’t wait to be home
  8. My garden- I love to grow my own food, can it, and freeze it
  9. My job- I don’t like all of it but at least I have the ability to have one
  10. Music- if you choose right it can feed your soul, calm you spirit, and change your perspective

I could go on and on, but I must get back to family and Thanksgiving in my home 🙂 Hope your having a blessed day!

Fall brings Thankfulness

We have one tree out by the road that always is so pretty when it changes colors. We love this tree as it signals fall and is just pretty to look at.

leaves-tree

It also reminds me that Thanksgiving is on it’s way and it helps me to remember what I am thankful for.

Even when it seems thing aren’t going your way, things could always be worse and there is always something to be thankful for.

My boys are ready and waiting for Thanksgiving. They tried on their bandanas and have picked out a prime spot to watch the family eat.

The boys are just two of the many things I am thankful for this Thanksgiving. Hope you are going to have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving, no matter what your plans are.

Coop Cleaning…

Last week we finally got a nice enough day to clean out the chicken coop. This means we rake, shovel, and scrape out all the old hay, shavings, dirt, and whatever else is in there. In it’s place we disinfect ( in a way that doesn’t hurt the chickens) and while that is setting in we clean out and spray down the boxes and get anything we can out into the sun light and spray it off with the water hose.  Once everything is as clean as we can get it we put down fresh hay and new shavings in the boxes.

Our girls always love scratching around in the new hay and seeing what they can find. Its like a kid on their birthday playing with the box. Its funny to hear their happy noises and see them explore. Even the dogs try to go in and check it out (if we would let them). We rearranged things some this season to give them more space inside incase they have to stay in with the winter weather.

Chase is always a good supervisor for chores that take a while. Baxter is happy to sit on the porch and sleep.

I’m glad we got this chore done and have the girls already for the winter. One chore down… many more to go 😉

Autumn is upon us… I love it

I love fall. If I had to pick a favorite season I would choose fall. It is the season hubby and I were married in, it has great weather for my boots, jeans and a vest, its not too rainy, its not too hot or too cold, and its the beginning of the good food season… hot apple cider, soups, stews, roasts, and all sorts of other comfort foods. One activity hubby and I like to do is go to a farm to pick out our own pumpkin(s).

pumpkin

We spend quite a bit of time looking over our options, putting them side by side, and finding just the right ones for the year. Its like picking out the perfect Christmas tree for us. (Well I guess the Christmas tree is more special, but this is just as fun 🙂 )

chase-hay

When we get them home we find them just the right spots and get out our other fall decorations.

The dogs always like to explore the new additions… (look at this cute face)

And take time to explore them.

We even got a neat shaped one for our side steps. I thought it was very unique.

We had so much fun when we got to go this year and bring home these beauties to decorate our home.
