Beautiful Flutterby Suprise

Every once in a while you get to be in the right place at the right time for the good shot. It’s even harder with animals and insects as they are always moving. I was blessed recently to get one of those moments. My mom was up the other weekend and walked to our mailbox. She came back in, had me get my camera, and follow her down the driveway. At the end of the driveway she showed me what she had seen and I was able to be at the right place to see this….Butterfly yellow

Do you see them? They almost blend in with the flowers and if it wasn’t for their movement mom and I might have missed them.Butterfly yellow 5

They stayed on the flowers for a really long time. I hope they did this as they knew we wouldn’t hurt them and just wanted to capture this beauty.Butterfly yellow 3

They stayed on the flowers almost still. I am guessing they were drinking in the pollen and resting.Butterfly yellow 2

The one seemed to turn so we could capture all his/her good sides 🙂Butterfly yellow 6

Another turn…Butterfly yellow 4

I just love to look at these pictures and think of how much beauty and peace these butterflies bring. It was just such a beautiful and peaceful moment to have. I am glad I had someone to share it and enjoy it with.

Pyaying Mantis

Have you ever thought of why they called this insect a praying mantis?Prayign MantusIs it because he looks as if his hands are folded in prayer? Is it because he appears much of the time to be kneeling? Answers.com say: “The mantis when in wait for prey which can be for up to a week its front legs are held in a prayer like position and it preys on other insects”. So I guess it is all of the above. I guess God gave us this little insect to remind us while we wait to stay in prayer and kneeling to him 🙂 Praying Mantus Thank you little mantis for this reminder by coming to visit us today 🙂

Blue

Its been a blue kind of day… mood and weather wise… rain, rain, and clouds. The rain stopped briefly at times off and on all day. This little butterfly was a visitor of ours and its lovely blue wings matched my mood and also provided a momentary mood lift.Blu butterflyWhat a pretty color blue 🙂 It is a metallic blue that seems to shine. Blu butterfly 3She made sure to show off both her good sides…Blu butterfly 4Each time she turned she stayed still enough for me to snap a picture…Blu butterfly2How sweet was she to stay around so long and provide me some beauty on a rainy day 🙂

Beauty of Flight

Some things that I see instantly make me think of the beauty of God… rainbows, beautiful days, a baby, and on my birthday trip to the zoo butterflies. It would seem that a creature like a butterfly with its delicate wings and big body would have a hard time flying as gracefully as it does…

But somehow it does. I would also thing landing on something hard like a leaf the wings would tear….

But they don’t…

It is one reason I really love butterfly gardens and the beautiful creature God created… the butterfly. Like all of God creatures, including us… we are all special and have a purpose 🙂

Small visitors…

I love when you see the small things…. On our visit to the gardens we saw a lot of small visitors. I guess I should call them residents, but you never know if they are just passing through. These little critters are so cute and I am glad I got to see them. Each provides a special blessing and were created by God.

Had one of these dragonflies in the yard the other day 🙂

Can you see the little frog? It was no bigger then the tip of my thumb.

Have you had any critters visit you lately?

A hard days work…

As I said in my blog yesterday my mom and her husband came up yesterday to celebrate her birthday weekend. Last night we took her out for a walk and shopping in old town Frederick and then out to dinner. We had a fun time 🙂

Today it was chore day… not that I wanted my mom to work on her birthday weekend, but we needed to get the deck painted, they volunteered to help this weekend, so that’s what we did. We painted the back deck and front porch. They look so nice now. Sorry I didn’t take photos, but I was so busy working and didn’t want to get paint on my camera. I did get a picture of this bee when we got done….

Tomorrow is back to work for me and mom travels home… but first I will be fixing her a wonderful breakfast as it is her real birthday day tomorrow:)

Have a blessed week everyone 🙂

One Lovely Blog Award

Marsha Lee from http://tchistorygal.wordpress.com/, nominated my blog for the Lovely Blog Award! I am so blessed! This is my third award and each one is special in it own way and brings a different blessing. It is so wonderful someone appreciates my blog enough to nominate me so thank you Marsha Lee. Marsha Lee’s blog is filled with memories of her teaching, lovely photos, and engaging personal thoughts. Thank you Marsha Lee. 🙂

These are the rules for receiving this award:

1.) Thank the person who nominated you and link back to them in your post.  (See above)

2.) Share 7 things about yourself.

  •  I love the Lord… if you haven’t figured that out yet. God is my leader, provider, and keeper of my heart.
  • My husband and I are working to start our family. I have loved kids since I was one. I love to care for them and just be in their presence. I long for one of my (our) own and am just waiting on God’s timing.
  • I love animals, especially dogs, horses, chickens, goats, and most farm animals. I also love red pandas and otters (they are just so cute and interesting).
  • I love to cook, especially for my family.
  • I love to bake and have a special family cookie I make on holidays that are in high demand at my job (they are requested and people get mad if a holiday goes by and I don’t make them).
  • I play the clarinet (since age 12) and the piano (since age 5). I played though college and have tapered off since, but am working to get back my “skills”.
  • I am a neat freak… I love to keep my house clean and organized… sometimes to my husbands frustration 😉

3.) Nominate 15 or so bloggers you admire.

In no particular order, here are the 15 blogs that I have enjoyed during my blogging journey.
