Overall it was a blessed Christmas celebrating our Lord and Saviors birthday!

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” -Luke 2:10-11

10 Reasons I wish Christmas was a week and not a day…

10. Many business are closed and people are home. (more businesses should be closed)

5. My pups love the snow (when we get it).

4. All the Christmas treats. While I can’t eat most of them I love to bake and make them for others.

3. The good food you don’t eat other times of year.

2. Families make time to spend together.

1. To celebrate our Savior’s birth… we should celebrate it every day.

Merry Christmas Eve 🙂

Parrots of God

There is this place in Tennessee that is called Parrott Mountain. It’s way up on this mountain and the drive up is a little scary, but the trip is worth it. This whole park has rescued parrots and other types of birds in it. Parrotts

It was really cool as you could feed some of the parrots out of your hand…OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

There were all colors…OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Yellow…OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Red…OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Even in white…OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Big and small…Parrott lorne feed

You could even feed them out of these little nectar cups…OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  The nectar was warm and the little birds just loved it. We also got our photo with the birds all over us. This is the guy who put the birds on us… OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

All the birds on him ended up on us… our arms, hands, and shoulders. We bought a photo with the birds all over us, as 100% of the proceeds went to taking care of the birds. There also were all kinds of little parrots that were so cute… Parott multi

They had some interesting birds…ParottThe really cool thing about this place was there were mentions of God and Jesus all around this place in statues…TN Trip Sept 2013 184

God was every where in this bird sanctuary. CrossIt was my favorite thing we did… horseback riding through the Smokey Mountain National Park almost tied it for first 😉 .

Attempts in Faith

I often ask myself what is faith? Is it something we tell ourselves, something we feel, something we know, or something we are given? I am still exploring this through the word of God.Jesus

A friend of mine was of great encouragement in faith today and I am grateful to her. She constantly remind me that faith is just that.. faith… a belief we have in something/someone for a particular reason. We can feel it, know it, or talk about it depending on the situation. It is very hard to have faith when it seems everything is going wrong around you and your prayers don’t feel answered. Yet, I was reminded that is when we get to then practice our faith. That is still believing in whatever “it” is despite the situation, circumstances, or negativity. I think that is the hardest part of faith… believing… especially when faced with previous disappointments. Still part of faith requires the belief despite the circumstances. Without that piece there is no faith only wandering. So with my friends support I will continue to work on my faith in our dreams and my God.

Kindness at Christmas…

Week two of our Christmas countdown… this weeks value/feeling is kindness 🙂

Kindness by definition  is the act or the state of being kind, being marked by good and charitable behavior, pleasant disposition, and concern for others. It is known as a virtue, and recognized as a value in many cultures and religions (per Wikipedia). Some of my favorite synonyms for this that I found are affection, charity, gentleness, good intention, grace, hospitality, patience, tenderness, thoughtfulness, tolerance, and understanding.

I think the ultimate example of this is through the birth of Jesus…Manger

What kindness, compassion, grace, tenderness, and understanding came through that night. How can we compete… but we can do our best to be kind, charitable, gentle, hospitable, patient, thoughtful, and understanding. I am going to do my best this week to focus on living this virtue… we will see how I do. 😉

Tis the season…. for Gratitude

So I thought I would start out my December posts with different feelings/values, I see as part of Christmas. To make this more manageable I thought each Sunday I would talk about a feeling/value and then post more about it as the week goes along. This week is GRATITUDE!

What is gratitude? The dictionary defines it as… Gratitude- thankfulness, gratefulness, or appreciation is a feeling or attitude in acknowledgment of a benefit that one has received or will receive. An emotion expressing appreciation for  what one has—as opposed to, say, a consumer-oriented emphasis  on what one wants or needs.

I see it as being happy with what you have no matter how bad things may seem, even if we are not getting our way, or not getting all the things we think we are owed. I think that being happy and content with the food we have to eat, the clothes we have to wear, the people around us, with all we do have…. that is gratitude. Things can get tough and for some the holidays don’t bring the joy we expect. Even though we may not feel the way we want, can not get other’s what we want, or participate in all the things we may be asked to do this holiday season… I am grateful for one solid and constant in my life…. Jesus Christ. The Lord has been there even when I doubt it, even when I don’t listen.  I am grateful for my husband who puts up with me and all I do to keep busy. I am grateful for my pups and chickens who provide happiness and comic relief. I am grateful for my family and friends. I am grateful for all I have and all God has matured me to be. I can stand with confidence that I stand for good, positive, happiness, despite all the bad. Gratitude is best developed when we are on our knees in need… not when we have it all. I hope this holiday season you are blessed with much happiness… maybe not from stuff… but from those around you, how you can serve others, and for what you stand for. Those are the greatest blessings of all.

“I wait for you, O Lord; you will answer, O Lord my God.” – Psalm 38:15

The water will flow…

“On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western sea in summer and in winter.” – Zechariah 14:8

Resurrection…

” But when they looked up they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen!”” Mark 16: 4-6

Today was a beautiful day with a beautiful sunset…

We spent some time in the yard today helping my Dad fix some of his stuff, playing with the dogs, and watching the chickens do what they do best… eat.
