Autumn is upon us… I love it

I love fall. If I had to pick a favorite season I would choose fall. It is the season hubby and I were married in, it has great weather for my boots, jeans and a vest, its not too rainy, its not too hot or too cold, and its the beginning of the good food season… hot apple cider, soups, stews, roasts, and all sorts of other comfort foods. One activity hubby and I like to do is go to a farm to pick out our own pumpkin(s).

We spend quite a bit of time looking over our options, putting them side by side, and finding just the right ones for the year. Its like picking out the perfect Christmas tree for us. (Well I guess the Christmas tree is more special, but this is just as fun 🙂 )

When we get them home we find them just the right spots and get out our other fall decorations.

The dogs always like to explore the new additions… (look at this cute face)

And take time to explore them.

We even got a neat shaped one for our side steps. I thought it was very unique.

We had so much fun when we got to go this year and bring home these beauties to decorate our home.

Anniversary Trip

This past week hubby and I went away overnight for our anniversary. Our neighbor agreed to watch the chickens and feed/let out the dogs so we could go.

On the drive to Pittsburg, PA we went though the Gap.

It has really pretty views especially in the morning hours. I am usually looking up at the mountains from home. Its a different perspective looking down into the valleys and a different beauty.

We got to do a few things while in Pittsburg including Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and the zoo. I will share on those later. Since we only had an afternoon and a morning to explore on our overnight trip we hope to go back to see more.

We realized we defiantly are country people though as the big city was a little crazy and intimidating, especially driving. Do you have any suggestions for things to see or places to go if we get back anytime?

Do you remember…

Do you remember where you were (if you are old enough) on 9-11 when you heard the words – America is under attack. The moment- the emotions you felt? Did you watch the twin towers fall? Do you remember the sadness that followed? Today I talked to many people we could all remember the moment, what we heard, saw, and what happened after in the following months.

Do you remember after the hero’s- some that were always hero’s but not given the credit as much- and every day citizens who became hero’s sometimes giving their own life to save others. Firefighters and other first responders who ran into buildings to save people instead of saving themselves. People who went to lead others to safety.

Do you remember after when people were in the streets praying, sharing that they had relied on God when they thought it might be the end for them? Do you remember that for a time our country pulled together for a common cause, instead of fighting and pulling our own country apart? That event brought us together on bended knee and in a common direction. Bravery in response… unity in spirit.

I have been thinking all day of how I should write a 9-11 blog and do this memory justice. It seems as if America has forgotten this day… how it affected us in the days that followed. We say we haven’t forgotten… we say we remember through our ceremonies and events… we thank those who serve in the military, firefighters, police, and paramedics (not saying this is wrong I think this is very important). But when you look at what is going on in our country and the way we divide ourselves with our pride, bitterness, and draw away from what founded this wonderful country… I see a lot of America have forgotten.

I haven’t forgotten, my church has not forgotten, some of those I know haven’t forgotten, and I know those who were directly affected and are survivors or family of survivors haven’t forgotten. There is still evil out there ready to attack… they are attacking many countries… so today as we remember 9-11 lets not forget that America still needs unity. We still need to remember what it felt like to pull together as citizen’s of a great country and focus our cause on defeating evil instead of creating evil in our country or allowing it to reside here. My prayer today is that America starts to remember what we really need in this country and unify around God and defeating evil so we can continue to be a great country. As a country divided we will eventually not stand. I hope today if you are a citizen of America or affected in any way by 9-11, that you remember or tell someone who wouldn’t remember what American was like, what this event was like, and encourage each other to unify and remember. Remember in our thoughts, actions, and motives in a positive direction. God bless America.

Heat Wave… hopefully waving bye bye

It is so hot again… so hot I want to crawl into an ice bath. On top of the heat our AC went out yesterday and it’s not fixed yet. To keep cool we have al the fans going, extra floor fans on, were going for rides with the boys in the car with the AC going, and opening widows around the house where the sun isn’t shining in to increase air flow.

This evening it is finally cooling and Grayson has been finding a way to stay cool…

He has loved hanging out in the windows. We have found him in different windows depending on the sun. I think its not only the air flow, but he has loved hearing and seeing different animals and bugs go by.

They say the coming week we are supposed to be in the 80’s again so hopefully that will help. When you don’t have AC or a commodity like it… makes you very grateful for it. Praying its fixed soon. Hope the weather is nice in your neck of the woods 🙂

Belated Labor Day…

Sorry this post is late USA, but I spent my Labor day with hubby and the boys hiking and spending good quality time together…

We had one of the best hikes we have had had in a while. Beautiful scenery, not too hard of a hike where we couldn’t talk and enjoy the scenery, but hard enough we got a decent work out. The dogs had a great time and when we stopped to rest they couldn’t stop smiling.

It was a fun and blessed Labor Day… so for give my lateness… Happy Labor Day!

On to Arkansas and Razorbacks…

So once the graduation and those festivities were complete we headed to my in-laws in Arkansas. Ok so the drive there was amazing… from the Arch in St. Louis to the beautiful countryside in Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas… I was in heaven. While in Arkansas we did a lot including…. the Wal-Mart museum…

The Daisy BB Gun museum…

As well as a trip to a safari park (more on that later as I have too many pictures to show here). The dogs always enjoying running around new places… they Love running at hubbys sisters in Indiana, but they had a great time running in a new place and Arkansas seemed to have many new smells for them.

Road Trip 2016

So I have been missing for a while… life got busy, I had so much going on, and I had a long road trip to go on with hubby and the pups. Hubbys nephew graduated from high school so we started out going to Indiana… May 2016 306

Then to Arkansas… with other trips to Missouri and Oklahoma. Oh my I loved this road trip because of beautiful scenery and some of the fun things we got to see and do. I have much to post about and I hope I can… but since I said we started in Indiana I have to show you my sister-in-laws new baby kittens.

kittens

We got to see them when they were a few days old and they were tiny and sweet. Hubbys nephew did a great job with his valedictorian speech and we are happy for him. Next on to Arkansas and the in-laws.

Sunset so Bright

There are many nice things in any given day. But one of my favorite things is a beautiful sunset. When I see a beautiful sunset, one where the colors are vibrant or bright… it can make a bad day better or a good day great.

Sunset1

Hubby and I got to see a beautiful one a couple nights ago coming home from running errands in the city. We were fairly close to home and I looked over and saw this…

Sunset

The sun was just setting and throwing beautiful and brightly colored light over the mountain and into the sky. The clouds were wispy, fluffy, and so light. I made hubby pull over so I could get a couple pictures, but he didn’t mind. It was a good excuse for him to take a moment to enjoy it as well.

I hope you had a great week and that the coming week is full of blessings 🙂
