Late Summer Update

Our little piece of God’s earth is trying to keep up with the change in weather from bouts of rain to dry humid heat. The grass is good when we get some rain and the chickens love all the bugs…

The birds are still having babies and one mom has taken over our smaller birdhouse…

Inside I am trying to keep up with the housework and animals coming in and out. Chase and Grayson are always under foot trying to be “helpful”. But I do love their company.

You’re Gonna Miss This

I was thinking after a yummy supper Sunday with friends that with all we have been walking though with the Lord that I am in need of a slow down. The song by Trace Adkins came to mind… You’re Gonna Miss This.

If you are not familiar with the song it starts out talking about a young girl that wants to grow up too fast. First she is anxious to get out on her own and have her own place. It then shows her as a young adult in her own place and all she wants is to be married and own a home. The next part of the song is about her getting married and then all she wants is kids. It finally ends with her having kids and wishing they would be older and easier to care for. In each stage of her life she has someone tell her to slow down, appreciate what she has in the moment, as when it is gone she is going to miss that stage of her life. Now I may not have the song exact, but it is my best description of what I see in the song.

It got me to thinking about how in each part of my life I have been really good at accepting and enjoying each phase as it came. When I wasn’t I would pray about it then somehow be able to go back to being happy right where I was. That was untill I was more than two years into infertility treatment.¬†So I looked to this song to provide some perspective and ability to continue to hope and have faith for the future.

If you want to check it out go to… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIBediEAcUQ¬†It is a good reminder no matter where you are to be grateful. I need to work on being content, as I have¬†said before I have¬†a loving husband, two fun-loving pups, a home, chickens (and their yummy eggs), family, and a job.bax snow Goodness from God ūüôā

Marsha Lee from http://tchistorygal.wordpress.com/, nominated my blog for the Lovely Blog Award! I am so blessed! This is my third award and each one is special in it own way and brings a different blessing. It is so wonderful someone appreciates my blog enough to nominate me so thank you Marsha Lee. These are the rules for receiving this award:

1.) Thank the person who nominated you and link back to them in your post.  (See above)

2.) Share 7 things about yourself.

  • ¬†I love the Lord… if you haven’t figured that out yet. God is my leader, provider, and keeper of my heart.
  • My husband and I are working to start our family. I have loved kids since I was one. I love to care for them and just be in their presence. I long for one of my (our) own and am just waiting on God’s timing.
  • I love animals, especially dogs, horses, chickens, goats, and most farm animals. I also love red pandas and otters (they are just so cute and interesting).
  • I love to cook, especially for my family.
  • I love to bake and have a special family cookie I make on holidays that are in high demand at my job (they are requested and people get mad if a holiday goes by and I don’t make them).
  • I play the clarinet (since age 12)¬†and the piano (since age 5). I played though college and have tapered off since, but am working to get back my “skills”.
  • I am a neat freak… I love to keep my house clean and organized… sometimes to my husbands frustration ūüėČ

3.) Nominate 15 or so bloggers you admire.

In no particular order, here are the 15 blogs that I have enjoyed during my blogging journey.

Monday… Monday… So good to me…

Chase and Baxter

It’s the start to a new week. I thought I would share this photo with you from our hike yesterday. The boys told me they wanted to go back today, but the weather is not cooperating.

The sun came¬†out briefly and the chickens were ready to use this to their full advantage. (Sorry I¬†think the chicken tail pictures are funny and cute ūüėČ ) We had some visitors yesterday, my friend and her two kids, who came to see the dogs and chickens. The kids had never seen chickens like this before and my poor girls paid for this¬†as they were getting¬†picked up, petted, and taken back to their coop a lot. I had to explain to the kids to be careful and that¬†the chickens wouldn’t lay again even if they¬†were placed back in their coop. The girls survived and got lots of good treats today¬†for being so good.

While they were here though part of the coop was messed up so it needs a little repair today. So¬†Hubby and I are off to complete this task before dinner… tonight is spaghetti¬†and¬†meatballs…¬†I make the¬†sauce and meatballs from scratch.

Quiz for the day… Who sang the song in my title?
