Chase and Other News

My poor Chase is sick… he has had a tummy ache and isn’t holding down much food today. I tried to give him some meds like the doctor said, but he didn’t like it. His gums are still the right color so they said that was good and he is drinking water.¬†So far no issues in the last few hours other then low mood and not being his normal peppy self. If he isn’t better by tomorrow we might just take him in to the vet to get checked out. It may just be his sinuses running into his tummy as he does have allergies. My poor boy he has been staying close to me and has gone everywhere with me today so I could keep an eye on him.Chase sad I pray he will feel better by tomorrow¬†and back to his normal energetic and happy self.

In other news I got nominated for the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award again. wonderful-team-membership-award

This one comes with a different award photo so I am happy to accept it. There are many good blogs out there so in accepting this award I can’t name them all, but I do want to thank Sagescenery for nominating me for this award. You should check out her wonderful and inspiring blog at http://godssceneryandpromises.wordpress.com .

Transformation…

Today was another outdoor day… I had to take a break between 2 and 4 due to the heat and sun. So here is a recap of what I have done over the last two days outside…

One of my new flowers (see below)

First I had to clean out all of the flower beds, raking up all the leaves and things into piles, then digging out all the plants and such I no longer want in the flower beds, and adding those to the piles…

I mowed the grass and then raked up all the grass into piles to collect…

This was one of 8 piles and a smaller one at that…

I then picked up all the piles and put them in holes that needed filling in the ditch. I got to use the new trailer for our tractor and it dumps¬†so it is very useful ūüôā

Yahhh new dump trailer

Then I had to clean out the beds and make them ready for the new flowers I got…

Before…

After…

Before

After (I added a Wild Berry Coneflower)

I also planted a watermelon vine in the front bed that gets the right light to grow as I can not plant it in the garden… the chickens might eat the vines if they get out of control.

Here are some final shots of a few of the flowers I planted out front….

Gerber Daisy’s

The flower bed is now transformed… The only bad part of the weekend was today when I was trying to put the gas can back in the shed a big long 4-ft rat or black snake was blocking the door to the shed. My neighbor came over to make sure he didn’t go into the shed and only under it. If you know me, you know I HATE snakes… imagine that a country girl who still has this kind of fear of snakes, but I do. Needless to say hubby will be putting up the gas can and tractor tonight when he gets home from work…

I hope you all receive many blessings this week…

Big Bird…

It’s still cloudy and wet today. The rain appears to have stopped for now. On the way home the other day we saw this peacock sitting on a house on one of the back roads we take. Since¬†I work later today I thought I would share this photo before¬†I left.. I hope you have a great day ūüôā

Woody the Woodpecker

So yesterday I attempted to post a photo of a woodpecker I had in the front yard and it was only somewhat successful. So here I will try again…

I love this little guy (girl?) and the bright red-head. He (she?)¬†is a frequent visitor over the last few days¬†and I have enjoyed¬†this woodpeckers interaction with our other birds. I have been looking out on other’s blogs and we all seem to be having many bird friend visitors recently¬†thanks to¬†the warmer weather.¬†When ever I see a woodpecker I think of the old cartoon about Woody the Woodpecker and his unique laugh. I got a kick out of it. So in honor of that neat¬†old show¬†we will¬†name this woodpecker Woody. I hope he stays around for a while¬†as we do enjoy his company ūüôā Any of you getting any cool birds on your feeders or in your yards recently?

Full Moon

Did you see the moon last night? It was so big and bright. I heard that tonight the moon will be the closest to the earth it gets. I hope you get to go out and see it.

I am off to clean house, make sure the chickens have a cool spot for the day, and make sure the dogs get a walk while it is still cool enough. I will be back tonight to let you know how things go.

Home Values and Love

The boys are trying to stay as cool as they can today. It tried to rain earlier, but that only made the humidity go up. I was out earlier this morning in the garden watering and checking on the plants. Things seem to be growing well. I wanted to water before it got too hot and caused all the water to evaporate.

When I got home the chickens were staying cool in the shade. (Aren’t “the girls” so cute ūüėČ )

I am in the mood for wadding… the river that runs through the battlefield we went to earlier in the week is calling my name…

This weekend promises to¬†be a busy one. Tomorrow I am going over to the elderly couples house we bought the tractors from (https://seasonsgirl.wordpress.com/2012/04/15/look-what-my-husband-brought-home/) to help them clean. They asked me if I could come over to help them clean house once a month as they are having difficulty keeping up. Then hubby and I have errands to run, house to clean (for Sunday),¬†and want to¬†take the pups for a walk. Sunday we have my husband’s best friend and his family coming over for lunch and to hang out.

I have been thinking lately more and more about if our home portrays the values and beliefs we have. When friends, family, and their kids come over¬†(we have had a lot of visitors over the last few months) do they see our belief in God, our love for others, and our love for each other. I am happy to say in most¬†areas we are doing well, but there is always room for improvement. I think you can make New Years resolutions¬†all year-long… so mine for the next few weeks is to see if there are ways I can create a warm, God valued filled, and healthy environment for those who come into our home.¬† Is there anything you do to create this in your home?

Thankfull Thursday…

Today I am grateful for my many blessings including my hubby and pups…

(Sorry today is a short post, I am tired after a very long day at work… pre Happy Friday.)

Feeling Hot Hot Hot…

Its HOT here today… a nice change from the cold wet weather.¬† I feel more motivated to get out and do things in nice weather and I am happy for my garden vegetables too as the warmer weather seems to make them grow tall. On our walk the other day through the battlefields I saw some really old pumps. I always see things like this as art. The above pump I really liked and I thought the orange background was so vibrant against the old pump. I also saw the below pump and liked it against the green grass.

The chickens are enjoying the warmer weather and trying to get into my garden…¬†tough luck chickens my fence should keep¬†them out.

Its hot enough the boys are inside enjoying the fan and a late afternoon nap… they are my cuties ūüôā

Dinner is chicken and the fixings and then I have to catch up on my reading… I have a pile of magazines two feet tall, no joke, and I want to clean out some clutter. Happy hump day…¬† I hope you were blessed ūüôā

P.S. Anyone want to take a stab at who sang the song that is my title today?

Monday… Monday… So good to me…

Chase and Baxter

It’s the start to a new week. I thought I would share this photo with you from our hike yesterday. The boys told me they wanted to go back today, but the weather is not cooperating.

The sun came¬†out briefly and the chickens were ready to use this to their full advantage. (Sorry I¬†think the chicken tail pictures are funny and cute ūüėČ ) We had some visitors yesterday, my friend and her two kids, who came to see the dogs and chickens. The kids had never seen chickens like this before and my poor girls paid for this¬†as they were getting¬†picked up, petted, and taken back to their coop a lot. I had to explain to the kids to be careful and that¬†the chickens wouldn’t lay again even if they¬†were placed back in their coop. The girls survived and got lots of good treats today¬†for being so good.

While they were here though part of the coop was messed up so it needs a little repair today. So¬†Hubby and I are off to complete this task before dinner… tonight is spaghetti¬†and¬†meatballs…¬†I make the¬†sauce and meatballs from scratch.

Quiz for the day… Who sang the song in my title?
