Launching into something new…

So my hubby has encouraged me for a long time to do something with all the photos I take. He tells me all the time how much others could enjoy them. Bird Sunset

So with his prompting and research I have decided to launch a web site where others can see and buy my photos if they want. I will use the money to put in a fund to help us when we are ready to make our move to buying land, animals, ect for our ranch. So if anyone wants to check it out and give me any ideas please do… the web site is http://Seasonsgirl.photostockplus.com/.  I will put the link on the side of my web site incase you come back later and want to take a look. If you see a photo on my site and would like me to add it to my new site contact me and if it is not a personal photo I will be happy to add it for you.

Birthday Trip…

The other weekend we went to the Marine Corps Museum to check it out for hubbys birthday. They had a lot of history that hubby knew or enjoyed learning about. I also enjoyed reading about the history and trying out some indoor settings on my camera. Hope you enjoy some of the shots I got… Statue

Not much to say this week… so here is a photo of a Cardinal that visits our bird feeders frequently 🙂 Cardinal

My Grandmas favorite bird 🙂 Hope your week is going well.

Gratitude in giving…

Tonight I got to give a little girl just what she asked for this Christmas…. a horse 🙂

 Leigh

She was very happy and hubby and I were happy to give her what she wanted 🙂 Sometimes giving provides the best kind of gratitude 🙂 Isn’t that what this season is suppose to be about. God gave to us so we can give to others. In turn we can be greatful for what we have. I hope you have enjoyed this weeks posts on Gratitude… will be moving on to another Christmas value/feeling tomorrow 🙂

Some of my favorite things (from the past few weeks)…

I was looking over my photos I got downloaded and saw a few that made me happy so I thought I would share. So if you don’t know my birthday was a few weeks back and hubby took me to see War Horse at the Kennedy Center. I loved the ceilings of our theater…

I thought they look like the palace of a king and made me feel special on my birthday.

This past week was the American holiday Thanksgiving and I made a feast for my hubby, Dad, Mother/father in-law.

I know the turkey is missing but hubby was carving it while I took this photo. This year we carved it off the table and served it on a platter to reduce mess and make it easier for hubby. The meal was delicious according to the family and included many American traditional holiday things… green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, gravy, cranberry sauce, and stuffing (made my own with veggies and sausage)… and some of my creations garlic cheddar mashed potatoes and onion cheddar popovers 🙂  All gluten-free except the stuffing (but I know how to make gluten-free kind 😉 ).

Then for dessert gluten-free pumpkin pie and gluten-free chocolate peanut butter pie 🙂

Nothing fancy… just delicious and traditional 🙂

Finally we were out working in the yard and Chase was playing hide and seek with us… can you see him?

Beauty of Flight

Some things that I see instantly make me think of the beauty of God… rainbows, beautiful days, a baby, and on my birthday trip to the zoo butterflies. It would seem that a creature like a butterfly with its delicate wings and big body would have a hard time flying as gracefully as it does…

But somehow it does. I would also thing landing on something hard like a leaf the wings would tear….

But they don’t…

It is one reason I really love butterfly gardens and the beautiful creature God created… the butterfly. Like all of God creatures, including us… we are all special and have a purpose 🙂

Eye of the Tiger

This was one of the beautiful new tigers at the DC Zoo. We were told he is a new guy and when he was first there they closed off the area so he could get accustomed to his new surroundings. At first he was just sleeping, but then he got up and gave us a show.  He went prowling around and talking to the lions in the next enclosure…

Then he played with a log…

And played some more…

Then talked some more…

It was neat to see such a powerful animal talking, playing, and observing…

Miscaculation and Many Projects

This past week you may have noticed an absence of my posts… well hubby and I took off some time from work to get projects done around the house and in the yard. We had a lot of help from our Supervisor Chase…

He made sure things were done up to his standards 😉 The first project we tackled was the kitchen floors. The old floor was lament and in bad shape in some areas…

Some of the old floor to the left under the new floor we put down…

So we replaced it with a new ceramic floor…

The boys on the new floor

Then hubby got sick for a few days so the next big project we put off until this past weekend when my mom and her husband could come help. Our old chicken run had been blown down/apart by all the bad winds this past year. The girls were in need of a new safer run. We had built them a house out of some old rabbit hutch’s and they love them as they are off the ground and have plenty of space for 10 chickens. I made a plan to build the coop to be 16 ft long by 8 foot high and wide…

So if you didn’t catch that 8 foot tall… hubby is almost 6 foot so I wanted to make sure he didn’t have to bend or hit his head like he did on the last coop. So I made it a little tall… oh well.

The girls seem to love their new home and are spending more time in the new run then they did in the old one. We plan to add some roosts on the sides and place to store things as well as tarp’s or siding for this winter so the run is safe and dry.

I wanted to update you on our girls too especially our hurt girl. She is getting better and gaining some needed weight…

The lady who was hurt

Compared to the other girls she still has some weight to gain, but we are happy she is alive and accepted back into her flock/brood 🙂

Other than that while we were on our staycation (a stay at home vacation) I got some canning done, magazines read, and cleaning done. For dinner tonight we had my Baxter’s Potato Kale Chowder. It was so yummy and made my migraine better. That should bring you up to date… have a good rest of the week 🙂

Union…

While visiting Ft. Monroe many weeks back we got to see many things including a gun demonstration…

The fort provided some nice photo spots…

I also enjoyed the buildings. Old building are so cool as there is not usually two alike…

Hubby just loves history and I enjoy learning and going to these places right along side of him. 🙂 Have a blessed and happy weekend 🙂
