On to Arkansas and Razorbacks…

So once the graduation and those festivities were complete we headed to my in-laws in Arkansas. Ok so the drive there was amazing… from the Arch in St. Louis to the beautiful countryside in Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas… I was in heaven. While in Arkansas we did a lot including…. the Wal-Mart museum…

The Daisy BB Gun museum…

The river towards Missouri was beautiful…

As well as a trip to a safari park (more on that later as I have too many pictures to show here). The dogs always enjoying running around new places… they Love running at hubbys sisters in Indiana, but they had a great time running in a new place and Arkansas seemed to have many new smells for them.

Chase Swims

We are well into summer and since I’m feeling better from my recent surgery the doctor said I can try to get back into shape by waking some.  On a recent walk hubby and I took Chase to a park where he can swim.

Now Baxter will have nothing to do with swimming so he just stood by and watched.  But our boy Chase had a grand time being back in the water.

Hope your having a great summer.

River Sunset

It’s the end of a week… the dogs are snoozing on the chair, hubby is in bed, and I am trying to get though some magazines that are from months ago. After a long week it is nice to be able to sit back, leave the rest of the chores for tomorrow, and connect with my blogging world. How was your week? Any new developments? We had a cold and windy day, but the sunset was nice…River sunset

I was thinking how nice it is at night… the house is quiet, I can do my bible study without interruption,  I get to watch what I want on TV (or not watch TV at all), no one needs anything, and there is a sense of calm. I know many people get up early to do things before their “house wakes up”, but in my house the night-time is nice. What is your favorite time of day to be alone, quiet, and get some ‘me’ time?

Frozen Water

I came across this photo tonight as I was searching of what to write about. I just loved how the camera captured the water moving around Chases feet. It seems to have frozen the water in motion. This was back from when we were just teaching him to be comfortable in the water. Now he is becoming a good swimmer. What a happy swimmer he is 🙂

The water will flow…

“On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western sea in summer and in winter.” – Zechariah 14:8

Home Values and Love

The boys are trying to stay as cool as they can today. It tried to rain earlier, but that only made the humidity go up. I was out earlier this morning in the garden watering and checking on the plants. Things seem to be growing well. I wanted to water before it got too hot and caused all the water to evaporate.

When I got home the chickens were staying cool in the shade. (Aren’t “the girls” so cute 😉 )

I am in the mood for wadding… the river that runs through the battlefield we went to earlier in the week is calling my name…

This weekend promises to be a busy one. Tomorrow I am going over to the elderly couples house we bought the tractors from (https://seasonsgirl.wordpress.com/2012/04/15/look-what-my-husband-brought-home/) to help them clean. They asked me if I could come over to help them clean house once a month as they are having difficulty keeping up. Then hubby and I have errands to run, house to clean (for Sunday), and want to take the pups for a walk. Sunday we have my husband’s best friend and his family coming over for lunch and to hang out.

I have been thinking lately more and more about if our home portrays the values and beliefs we have. When friends, family, and their kids come over (we have had a lot of visitors over the last few months) do they see our belief in God, our love for others, and our love for each other. I am happy to say in most areas we are doing well, but there is always room for improvement. I think you can make New Years resolutions all year-long… so mine for the next few weeks is to see if there are ways I can create a warm, God valued filled, and healthy environment for those who come into our home.  Is there anything you do to create this in your home?

Monday… Monday… So good to me…

Chase and Baxter

It’s the start to a new week. I thought I would share this photo with you from our hike yesterday. The boys told me they wanted to go back today, but the weather is not cooperating.

The sun came out briefly and the chickens were ready to use this to their full advantage. (Sorry I think the chicken tail pictures are funny and cute 😉 ) We had some visitors yesterday, my friend and her two kids, who came to see the dogs and chickens. The kids had never seen chickens like this before and my poor girls paid for this as they were getting picked up, petted, and taken back to their coop a lot. I had to explain to the kids to be careful and that the chickens wouldn’t lay again even if they were placed back in their coop. The girls survived and got lots of good treats today for being so good.

While they were here though part of the coop was messed up so it needs a little repair today. So Hubby and I are off to complete this task before dinner… tonight is spaghetti and meatballs… I make the sauce and meatballs from scratch.

Quiz for the day… Who sang the song in my title?

Hikes and Battlefields…

It was such a nice day, perfect weather for a hike. We went to a local battlefield and hiked all over that place. The dogs were in heaven… they LOVE to hike and walk.

My wonderful hubby carried my camera backpack so I coud have both my lenses at hand and it also allowed us to carry water and such.

When we first got to the battlefield there were some painters their painting a pond…

In the pond was a goose swimming, it almost looked as if he was posing for the painters.

A little further up the way and in the river there were two families of geese… Mom, Dad, and babies.

The fields had beautiful flowers in them today all in full bloom.

Then we went from the fields and river to the mountain. There were so many planes today…

The pups took a rest when we got back from the mountain on one of the old house steps.

On the way out of the battlefield we saw a bird we have a difference of opinion on what it was… any ideas?

I hope you all had a beautiful weekend with lots of fun and beautiful weather. Have a blessed week 🙂

The chicken or the egg

While collecting eggs yesterday my husband found some weird ones in the nests. They were not very big and they were totally soft. Now we give our girls oyster shells they can eat as they want so we knew that was not the issue, so I went to look in the recent Chicken magazine by Hobby Farms as they just had something on this. The article said it could be numerous things like lack of calcium but it says this is cured by the oyster shells), it could be from newly laying hens (possibility), they said old hens do this also (we only have young hens), or it could have happened while the chicken was laying and got scared by a loud noise or other disturbance (possibility). So we had 2 of these and figure it may have happened before as we have found remnants of egg in the box with no distinct shell pieces. We are going to keep an eye out on this. If any of you have any ideas please share.

In better news today is a nicer day out.

The chickens are sure enjoying foraging after the rain…

The dogs are loving the nicer weather to play outside in.

Scrapping adventure

My husband has a hobby to earn us a little extra money, scrapping. He gets things from people who need to get rid of them and we take it to the local scrapyard to be melted down. We don’t get a full load often and so these trips have been few and far between, but we can use the extra money for those unexpected house, car, gas expenses, etc. I road along yesterday as I still was not feeling well and the ride usually helps. On the way home we got a bite to eat and stopped by the park to eat and let the dogs run.

The wind was blowing all around and had some flags at attention…

In a little town I saw this blue bike next to a local post office. I thought it was such a cool use of art.

I also liked this painting on a wall near the post office. It reminded me of Italy when  was there.

We then traveled a back road home… over the bridge and through the woods…

It was a nice day, but cool with the wind blowing. I know the dogs had a good day as they slept all night and were not as hyper this morning. It was such a blessing to have two nice days to take rides. I hope today my migraine will stay away 😉
