The very bland morning…

It’s a still and very bland day… you know one of those days where there is no color in the sky and the sun is nowhere to be seen. It isn’t raining, it isn’t windy, it is just still. The chickens don’t seem happy about this type of day. They are out, but seem more skittish, especially after Chase had to scare away a bird that was getting a little too close. The dogs are snoring on their chair, yet are easily awakened by noise.

Since there is not much to share yet today I wanted to pass along some House Rules we found on a tapestry and have hanging in our house. I hope you have a good Saturday.

Soggy Sunday after Sunny Saturday…

It started raining shortly after we got done at the Flower and Garden festival my Mom and I went to yesterday. It was so sunny and beautiful the entire time we were at the show and I had to sing a little praise to God for holding off the rain till after we got to see the whole festival. I got so many good shots I want to make a slide show for you to watch… but I have to figure this out first on my new computer, then figure out how to post it. My husband and I have been sharing his computer for a while and finally I have saved enough for one of my own 🙂 (Big smile, I will post a photo of it once my new lid for it comes in).

Anyways back to the garden show. There were so many cool plants, flowers, and crafts there. I have never been to a garden show like this and my Mom and I want to make this a tradition. So here are a few of my favorites for you to enjoy especially if you are having a rainy day like me (heavy on the rain).

I saw this on the way into the show in someones yard... I thought it was pretty. I think it is an Allium Onion Flower.

A tree waterfall

The castle door

A glass flower... this guy made them out of old bowls and plates, etc.

One of many waterfalls

Rows of flowers, vegetables, and herbs to buy 🙂

A friendly pup I saw

My motto for the next few days...

Festival Day… if it doesn’t rain

Today the sun is trying hard to stay out from behind the clouds…

The chickens are enjoying some grub in and out of the coop while they take turns laying.

They use to all lay in on of the first boxes we built, but now only one or two lay there, and the others lay in the new back box we built in their new attached house. Chickens are funny.

The pups have been playing most of the morning, but seem to be taking a rest currently, watching over their chickens like good flock guards.

I am hopefully off soon to a Flower and Garden Festival in our area with my mom. I am waiting for her to get here so we can go and try to beat the rain that looks like it wants to come. The weather channel did say rain today. I think I will pray for it to hold off untill we get done. *Fingers Crossed *

Any of you have any festival plans for this weekend or anything fun planed? I hope and will say an extra prayer for the rain holds off in your area too if you are supposed to have some, till you get done with your day. (If you need some rain and are hoping for it I will send ours your way).

First day of yard sales

Yesterday was the first day of the season we saw yard sale signs out. It was a very nice day and everyone was out. After we got home and picked up the dogs we went looking to see what yard sales had started.

The mountains trees around us have really started to fill in and get some color.

I also saw this cool old barn that was falling in (yes another barn).

When we got home the chickens were enjoying the sun and worms.

Chase and Baxter were out running and playing dog games. They were so cute.

I also wanted to share the sky picture I took from our back porch the night before. It looked like it was going to storm, but it never did.

I am off to walk with the dogs and see if there are any more yard sales today. I hope you all have a blessed Saturday. Anyone doing anything fun? Let me know 🙂

A Sunday Drive…

When I was a little girl my mom, dad, and I would always take Sunday drives. We would go all over the state and sometime to other states if time permitted. Sometimes our Sunday drives would happen on Saturdays if we wanted to drive too far, as usually Sunday we went to church. These are some of my favorite memories from my childhood.

When I met my husband he also had the same experience as a child so we decided to incorporate these “Sunday drives” into our relationship. We felt it was important to have this time and to keep them as part of our family traditions.  We really enjoy them and find it is really a time to connect, talk, and relax.

So today we took one of our drives after he got home from work. We drove into Maryland and I found a lot of photo opportunities. I thought I would share some.

First we went by this little church, I thought the stained glass windows and steeple were very neat.

On one of the back roads we had to put on our brakes rather quickly as a chicken almost ran out in front of us…

Then we found this little park we could walk the dogs along a stream.

Next we found some neat farms, barns, and fence lines.

Some cows were wondering what I doing... I think they thought I was a crazy lady taking pictures of their farm.

On the way home I saw some what looked like wooden crosses along side an old barn. I thought they were neat.

It was a nice day, despite the migraine I had, and I enjoyed the ride.

Do you have any family traditions you have carried over into your family now? Were you able to do any on those today?

Rainy day…

It’s raining today. I don’t always like rainy Saturday as it usually interferes with what I have to do and I get a major headache from them. Today I am ok with the rain as I need to clean house and get things back in order after our trip. I thought today would be a good one to share some more of my photos from our trip… Hope you enjoy !

I love this tire off a tractor that was getting repainted…

I took this picture as it reminds me of a barn that as a child I would have loved to pop in and out of the windows as a game.

This is one of those lovely evening sky.

This was the large sky I love in this part of the country.

My conference I went to yesterday was long, but very educational. I didn’t get home till 9 PM and was so tired I went to bed. I hope you have a good Saturday!

Tales of Baxter the Therapy Dog…

So last night was Read Across America… Baxter did an exceptional job with all the crowd of kids, parents, grandparents, characters (as they were also celebrating Dr. Suess Cat in the Hat Birthday and had people in custume there for the kids), and other people passing. He was attentive and kind, even when the kids who were a little too rough. For his efforts and good behavior he was rewarded with some ice cream…

The boys love ice cream...

As you can see Chase needed a reward for having to wait for us with his daddy in the truck and not getting to go into the mall with us.

I couldn’t get a good shot of Baxter with the kids, all I could get in the commotion was this one…

Proud TDI dog

I think Baxter and I would be willing to do this again if the chance arose. Baxter seemed to soke up all the attention, smells (can you  say food court), and sights of a mall. I think the smells were his favorite;)

The night and event went well. I hope you all had a good Saturday.
