Memories of September

Last September we were able to go to the lake for a little vacation with my folks. It was actually one of the most relaxing vacations since our honeymoon over 10 years ago. Our boys came. Our lab/healer mix wanted nothing to do with the water or boat. We barley got him on the double decker dock.

Yet our terrier mix Chase absolutely loved everything about the place… the lake house, the dock, the water to swim in, and especially the boat. He loved riding on the boat and we had to make him get off when it was time to go in for the day. He also loved watching the fish from the dock and using his life jacket to swim. For a farm dog he adjusted to being a lake dog quickly 😉

Flowers and Gardens

While we were on our overnight anniversary trip we went to a botanical gardens.

phipps-gardens

The outside path was lined with gardens with pretty flower spinners.

It was a pretty place and a lot of indoor displays, more then I had seen in other gardens like this.

Some had things in them.

Other’s were mostly flowers.

The had ones for kids. (you know I loved the one with the chicken 😉 )

Many of them had glass sculptures in them.

And the glass looked like a sun.

It was neat what someone can do with glass.

I love to look at flowers and find it very interesting how someone can create something so beautiful with different flowers.

And they were all beautiful.

The Safari Park

While we were on our trip late May early June we did a lot of different things. I went zip lining for the first time with my nephew who graduated (Soooooo fun I would totally do it over and over again), went to different places I had never been before (like Branson), and got to go on other adventures including going though a Safari Park in Arkansas. It was quite fun and we got to see some animals we hadn’t before.

Ever seen one of these?

It was cool to drive though and see all the different animals. Like these…

This was only part of our adventure here, there were just so many animals to see… More to come…

Memories

There are many important parts of life. One aspect of life is making memories and on the flip side is reminiscing on the memories made. Hubby and I work so much and are so busy with our jobs, animals, home, church, and just general life that its hard to find time to make and then reminisce on memories. We try to make a point of doing something special each year on our anniversary and doing something different we haven’t experienced together before. This year we went to Myrtle Beach.

beach

We both had been to Myrtle before but never together. And we had not done most of the activities we chose when we had been there with friends or family before. We went horse back riding on the beach (we had only ridden on the beach in Hawaii before), we went to a beautiful garden, flew a kite (this was our first time doing that on this beach), went on the sky wheel, played at different putt putt golf courses, and I even took hubby to the South of the Boarder as he hadn’t been there before. So over the next few posts I will share some of the things we got to do on our long weekend. I hope you will enjoy our memories with us 🙂

Beauty Filled

There are some day when you look for your beautiful sunset… good days to end it beautifully or bad days when the sunset reminds you of the hope of tomorrow.

sunset

The above sunset I captured while on an anniversary trip with hubby in September. We were in South Carolina for this particular wedding anniversary trip and the sunsets were beautiful. Each day there were different colors and the mood of each sunset was equally calming. I took a lot of pictures on this trip and I hope to start sharing them and showing you some of the beauty I captured on our love trip 🙂 Have a beauty filled week 🙂

New Diggs

We went to visit my mom and step-dad the other week to spend some time at the beach to get away. Baxter and Chase love going to the beach to play and they love moms house because they love her front door. They can sit or lay at her front door and watch all the people go by. At our house it isn’t as busy and we usually don’t have our front door open this time of year due to the stink bugs that inhabit it. While we were down there my mom “grandma” bought Chase a new shirt.

Bax n Chase door

He loved to wear it while helping Baxter check out the neighborhood. At first it was just a shirt, but now we call it his basketball jersey…

Chase shirt

He looks so cute in it and the last time I brought it out he actually almost jumped into it. He seems to love his new shirt…. Thanks Grandma 😉

Happy Summer Weekend!

We had a couple of nice weather day’s this week, a couple of rainy and stormy days, and a couple of hot days. The dogs were happy to go out on the nice days and as always Chase was out with us even when it was hot. We got some more chores done around the property and started on some inside things that need to get done. Inside chores are best done during the hot parts of the day.

Polar Bear show

The heat reminded me of the polar bear above, that we saw at the Zoo in Louisville, KY when we took our trip in May. It was a hot day and he was just having so much fun jumping in the water and swimming all over his enclosure. It was like he was putting on a show for everyone and the more “awwww’s” and “wow’s” he got the better his show got. And he really seemed to enjoy the nice cool water to take his swim in.

Poler Bear Swims

Hope you are having a nice summer and getting to take a cool dip when you need to so you can cool off from this summer heat 😉

Slugger…

While in Indiana we had a day to have some fun. We wanted to go to Louisville, KY to go to a museum and the zoo. We went to the Louisville Slugger Museum.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It was really neat to hear the history of this famous bat and the company as a whole. We really enjoyed our tour of the factory and our guide was great. When we fist got to the part of town the factory was in all we could see was this…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The tippy top of the bat. But then after we parked we walked up and could see the whole big old bat…

The neat part of the entrance was a wall where they put the signature of all the plays they had made bats for.

It was a great experience and fun as hubby and I both enjoy baseball 🙂

Louisville Zoo…

While on our trip we did a lot of driving to check out land and new places. We also had a day of fun and went to Louisville to the Sluggers Museum and the zoo. I took a lot of photos at the zoo and thought I would share some with you today 🙂

There were tigers…

Tiger

And Lions…

Lion

And polar bears… oh my… and this particular polar bear liked to put on a show for the crowd by jumping off a rock. Only this polar bear didn’t just climb on the rock and jump… he would act like he was going to jump then not… once… twice…

Poler Bear 1

Then on the third time he would finally jump…

Polar Bear 2

And make a big splash…

Polar Bear 3

The rhino’s were up for some good photos…

Ant then these eagles were in an open areas. I guess they couldn’t fly anymore so there was no concern of them escaping so they didn’t need a cage…

It was a nice zoo and a beautiful day to be at the zoo 🙂

Bush’s- The Bean

While on our anniversary trip (over a month ago now) we stumbled upon a neat museum for Bush’s Baked Beans…Bushes sign

There was actually a lot to do  from the café, to a movie on the history of Bush’s, to the artifacts and photos of the Bush’s family, to a big can of beans you walk though and see how the canning processing works…. Bushes Can

They even had a scale that tells you how many beans you weigh… I got hubby on it so I could take this photo…Bushes bean weight

I really loved this cute piggy they had flying at the end of the museum part… Bushes PigThe gift shop was really neat and I got some really cool chicken socks. They even had a cool bathroom sink faucets… I know it may be weird to take a photos of the faucet but it was so cool…Bushes sink If you are ever in this part of TN you have to check it out. From the history to the fun activities it will appeal to kids and adults alike 🙂
