Garden Goodies

My garden is in full bloom right now. I planted a little later then others in my area so as their gardens are dying, mine is still giving me lots of good stuff 🙂 This is what I have gotten so far this week…Garden goodies

I have already canned 17 pints of diced tomatoes, three of cherry tomatoes, 15 jars of yellow tomato salsa, and frozen quite a few quarts of tomato sauce made from our tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc. I also have baked some more gluten free bread for myself…Bread

It is a simple recipe and my bread maker makes things so much easier 🙂 It also makes the bread taste better when you make it yourself. And the lovely aroma in the house of fresh baked bread can not be beat 🙂 It makes you just relax and take a deep breath…. yummmmmm 🙂

Thursdays Ten Blessings…

I am blessed this week for many reasons. For starters Chase is doing well with his swimming lessons and really learning how to navigate the deeper water.

Second, Baxter has moved from adolescents and into young adulthood as he is listening better and following directives from all family members.

Third, my client’s have not been too bad this week allowing me some time to get caught up at work. Forth, Hubby and I have really enjoyed being outside a lot this week hiking, working in the yard, going to the river, working in the garden, and helping the chicken reorient to the yard. Fifth, my garden is growing well and I have so many tomatoes, squash, zucchini, peppers, and beans I have had to find new things to do with them.

Some of the veggies…

This brings me to my next blessing number six that I am learning how to can. So far I have made corn salsa and strawberry preserves. I plan to try dilly beans, stewed squash, and tomato preserves. Blessing number seven is the chicken is healing nicely and adjusting to the yard.

Eight, my Dad has been blessed this week with some new equipment that should help make things a little easier for him (if you don’t know or remember my Dad lives with us and is paralyzed from the chest down). Nine, I am grateful for our wins at the olympics and all the effort the athletes are putting forth. Finally, I am grateful that my 5 day vacation is coming up at the end of this month 🙂

And the rain came down, down, down…

So the weather man was right again… rain all day. It really made the morning hard for us to get to the doctors appointments and then to run errands. There were numerous accidents and people driving slowly. We were late for the first doctor, but so was everyone behind us so we were still seen. When we got home the chickens were out in the yard getting a bath and they got some of the scrap cauliflower for a treat. The rain was coming down hard and the tractors were eerie distant in the rain…

The rose-bush seemed to enjoy another drink and is getting so big with all the rain…

It’s one of those afternoons that I don’t mind the rain now that I am home. I got a nap, the garden is getting water, and I don’t have to feel bad about resting and reading. I hope you have a blessed week 🙂

Sunny day… Chasing the clouds away

Today was another sunny day! We had to take advantage of it as Mr. Weatherman says it’s going to rain all day tomorrow.

The chickens discovered today one of our fence posts had come loose and they showed us they know how to try to get out… that’s fixed now.

I was reading a post the other day (I’m sorry to say I forgot who it was – if it’s you let me know) the lady writing it was sharing her black dog loved to lay in the sun…

We have one of those...

My wonderful hubby finished weed eating the fence line… it looks good now.

The only problem today again was the wind. It blew all night and knocked things over. Today it is making sure it tries its hardest to blow the leaves off the trees in surprise attacks.

I worked in the garden and placed my new wire trellis I got to let my cucumbers climb on this year.

My onions are coming up and I am so excited to see the fruits of my labor starting to grow.

I am so looking forward to the weather staying nice and being able to put the rest of my plants in so they can grow big.

Baxter and Chase wanted to wish all my followers, readers, and visitors a Happy Weekend !

P.S. Anyone know what song and from what show my blog title came from today?

Soggy Sunday after Sunny Saturday…

It started raining shortly after we got done at the Flower and Garden festival my Mom and I went to yesterday. It was so sunny and beautiful the entire time we were at the show and I had to sing a little praise to God for holding off the rain till after we got to see the whole festival. I got so many good shots I want to make a slide show for you to watch… but I have to figure this out first on my new computer, then figure out how to post it. My husband and I have been sharing his computer for a while and finally I have saved enough for one of my own 🙂 (Big smile, I will post a photo of it once my new lid for it comes in).

Anyways back to the garden show. There were so many cool plants, flowers, and crafts there. I have never been to a garden show like this and my Mom and I want to make this a tradition. So here are a few of my favorites for you to enjoy especially if you are having a rainy day like me (heavy on the rain).

I saw this on the way into the show in someones yard... I thought it was pretty. I think it is an Allium Onion Flower.

A tree waterfall

The castle door

A glass flower... this guy made them out of old bowls and plates, etc.

One of many waterfalls

Rows of flowers, vegetables, and herbs to buy 🙂

My motto for the next few days...

Windy day business…

It was another beautiful, but windy day here in our area.

The wind would blow so hard at times you thought you would fall over and then it would stop for a while.

Don't know if you can see the leaves blowing in this picture, but we lost many due to the wind the last couple of days.

The dogs enjoyed time in the yard while I worked in the garden a little.

Baxter

I put my little pots with seeds out to get some sun and watered them to keep them from blowing away.

The chickens were also enjoying finding things in my flower beds.

It was a good day after Easter. I think I need a nap… I guess it’s too late for that… Thanks to all my new followers I appreciate the support and comments 🙂

Chicken coop, dogs, and life…

Today was the first nice day I had to be outside and work. The chicken house got a cleaning and I finished the new boxes for “the girls” (my Dad was helpful in this process as he had a lot of good ideas). “The Girls” ran around like crazy enjoying the bugs and other goodies that they could get now that the rain had stopped and the ground was still soft. The dogs and the chickens continue to learn how to share the yard space, but are doing very well so far…

Baxter decided to stand guard over the flock today (is a bunch of chickens a flock?)

The best news of the day is we got our first two

eggs with double yolks.

Yummy… they were delicious.

I also did some gardening and planted things that could go in the ground now. I finished putting seed in their pots to start growing to go in the ground later.

The birds were also out again and enjoying the bird feeders.

I couldn't get close enough without scaring this cardinal off

I also noticed out tulips had started to bloom and they are such a pretty red.

It was such a nice day… I hope it was for you too.

I wanted to thank all my new (and other) followers and anyone who has liked or left a comment. I really appreciate it as today has been my best day for traffic to my site yet 🙂 I hope you all have a blessed week.
