Happy Labor Day

Just wanted to wish all of you a Happy Labor Day… here in America we celebrate Labor Day, the first Monday in September. It was a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. (Taken from http://www.dol.gov/opa/aboutdol/laborday.htm)

Hope those fo you who got today off enjoyed it. My hubby worked until 1 then came home and we ran errands and did some more chores around the house. It was nice to get things accomplished, but it seems once we get one project done we find three more. Oh well, at least we won’t get bored. 😉

Thursdays Ten Blessings…

I am blessed this week for many reasons. For starters Chase is doing well with his swimming lessons and really learning how to navigate the deeper water.

Second, Baxter has moved from adolescents and into young adulthood as he is listening better and following directives from all family members.

Third, my client’s have not been too bad this week allowing me some time to get caught up at work. Forth, Hubby and I have really enjoyed being outside a lot this week hiking, working in the yard, going to the river, working in the garden, and helping the chicken reorient to the yard. Fifth, my garden is growing well and I have so many tomatoes, squash, zucchini, peppers, and beans I have had to find new things to do with them.

Some of the veggies…

This brings me to my next blessing number six that I am learning how to can. So far I have made corn salsa and strawberry preserves. I plan to try dilly beans, stewed squash, and tomato preserves. Blessing number seven is the chicken is healing nicely and adjusting to the yard.

Eight, my Dad has been blessed this week with some new equipment that should help make things a little easier for him (if you don’t know or remember my Dad lives with us and is paralyzed from the chest down). Nine, I am grateful for our wins at the olympics and all the effort the athletes are putting forth. Finally, I am grateful that my 5 day vacation is coming up at the end of this month 🙂

Was the weather man right?

One of my favorite flowers is the Gerber daisy. I love the colors, the design, and how they grow. Now I enjoy daisy’s in general, but this has to be my favorite variety. It’s almost like a sunshine (which I also enjoy). Which brings me to today… my motto worked the sun came out and was out all day. Over the weekend the weather man said it was supposed to rain until Wednesday, then he said Tuesday, then it said slight chance Tuesday, but ending by mid day. Well the rain ended overnight and today was sunny, yet still chilly. A weather man is the only job you can not be right in and still keep your job;)

I had to run an errand this morning and took the dogs (they love to ride).

Chase likes to sleep in this weird position when in the truck.

When we got back the dog’s  layed in the sun and watched the chickens. (I wish I could have too, but I had to go to work).

I want to thank all my followers and visitors. I had my highest visitors day yesterday and it made me so happy. I am very blessed to have followers like you 🙂

Happy Day :)

The boys wanted to say Happy Thursday 🙂

The chickens tried to escape the coop this morning as the wind caught their door and gave them an escape route… but we corralled them all and they are now back in the safety of their run.

Us humans are off to work 🙂

A day for the birds…

Today is sunny and bright… the flowers survived the winds and the chickens are out in the yard looking for food.

The only problem is we were under a freeze warning last night and it is COLD today… Hopefully it will warm up so the dogs will go out and play. It would be a nice day to bundle up and go for a walk and see what new things are growing or blooming though.

I will be off to work in a little while…Do any of you have any fun plans for the day indoors or out?

Ice cream….

Coconut Almond Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Today was an I need an ice cream day…

It was my first day back to work from vacation… I had 123 e-mails, 20 some phone messages, and 15 sticky notes from co-workers with notes about my client’s on my desk. Plus I got some bad news about an old client that was sad. I also had a packed schedule that I had to fit the e-mails, phone messages, and sticky notes into.

Yesterday while we were out we went to this little ice cream shop we like and I found a new favorite ice cream flavor… Coconut Almond Chocolate Chip Ice Cream (say that three times fast). If you don’t like coconut, almonds, or chocolate chips this is not the flavor for you, but if you do… you will find a new favorite friend. I have been thinking of it every time I was stressed at work today. Ice cream is always a good way to think yourself happy (maybe not make your thighs happy, but hey we have to give somewhere).

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Is there a flavor you don’t like? Do you have a favorite place to get ice cream with your family?
